The Mercy House is a resource and reference facility for people in need, as reported.

According to an article from Jersey Catholic, on Dec. 5, a blessing at the house located at 20 Greenville Ave. by Auxiliary Bishop Gregory J. Studerus and a ceremony to cut the ribbon and officially open the home were held.

Every Monday and Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Jersey City Mercy House will be available to provide support, clothing, and food for those in need, as reported.

Each year, there will also be one or more special events, such as a distribution of toys for Christmas.

Cheryl A. Riley, the director of Mercy House, stated that they realize a significant need now, especially after the epidemic.

As a result, the organization is moving to locations where it may be helpful.

They reportedly seek to bring the ladies in residence and those who come to Mercy House to the mission of the Catholic faith.

Moreover, Bishop Studerus predicted that the Mercy House would significantly impact the neighborhood by providing non-perishable baby supplies, clothing, food items, furniture, and support in locating work and housing to anybody who asked for it.

Furthermore, Annette Miller, the coordinator for The Mercy House, read a passage from the Gospel of Luke titled "The Parable of the Good Samaritan."

The reading reportedly conveys a message that is highly congruent with The Mercy House's mission, which is to provide an accepting environment to families and people who are struggling financially and to encourage Christians to make a consistent effort to reach out to those in need and to assist them in any way they can.

As reported, the Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese of Newark assumed control of the boarding home's day-to-day activities in August.

At the moment, there are a total of thirty women living in the former convent. The residents of the Mercy House are served three hot meals daily and pay a lower rate for rent and board.

Archdiocese of Newark's Respect Life Office and Mercy House

The Archdiocese of Newark's Respect Life Office has been running retreats for more than 25 years to help people heal the emotional and spiritual wounds that abortion causes.

The Archdiocese of Newark established The Mercy House in June 2018 to expand its outreach efforts.

Accordingly, the Respect Life Office aims to promote the teachings of the Catholic Church on the care, protection, and respect of human life from conception to the moment of natural death.

Moreover, the Mercy House aims to provide emotional support and healing in a comfortable, faith-filled environment for those in abusive relationships, expecting mothers, and individuals dealing with addiction.

Also, it is an open space for families and individuals in need and helps those struggling financially by providing them with various goods and resources.
