Catholic School Administrators Association of New York State to honor Cardinal Dolan

The Catholic School Administrators Association of New York State will honor Timothy Cardinal Dolan in their anniversary gala and annual gathering.

Cardinal Dolan, the current archbishop in New York, is reportedly one of the awardees of the event, as reported.

CSAANYS Anniversary Gala and Annual Gathering

As per the article from Catholic New York, aside from the gathering, the association will also be celebrating its 50th anniversary.

It will reportedly take place on Nov. 13, Sunday, at the Century House in Latham.

The event will be honoring individuals along with the archbishop in the 50th-anniversary gala and annual gathering, including the following:

  • Dr. Catherine Hickey, retired Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of New York.
  • Jim Cultrara, New York State Catholic Conference director for education and co-chair of the New York State Coalition for Independent and Religious Schools.
  • Robert Bennett, New York Board of Regents chancellor emeritus.
  • Sr. Carol Cimino, S.S.J., former executive director of CSAANYS
  • Sr. Ellen Rose Coughlin, S.S.J., superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Ogdensburg
  • Sr. Remigia Kushner, C.S.J., department chairperson, a graduate director, and professor of education at Manhattan College.

According to the event's poster, the event will start on Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. and will be led by Dr. Kevin Baxter, Director of the Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program at Notre Dame University.

At 6 p.m. of the same day, The Lighting the Fire for Catholic Education 2022 honorees will be awarded in line with the 50th Anniversary Gala.

On the next day, Nov. 14, Monday, two sessions will be conducted on 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. schedules, as mentioned.

The CSAANYS is reportedly serving 424 Catholic schools and 180,000 students across the state.

Carol Hayes, executive director of CSAANYS, said that the formation of the association was the only way to get the necessary information about the schools.

She added that during the time when Catholic schools gained half a million students whose parents paid taxes but were not able to return those taxes, including books, student services, and transportation.

It was established under the supervision of Brs. Thomas Draney, C.F.C., and Peter Pontolillo, S.M.
