Tim Keller has discussed how his prayer life has blossomed despite battling cancer. He also shared how the Psalms have supported him as he confronts the truth that he will die.

Comfort with Psalms

According to an article from the Christian Post, Tim Keller, an author and a pastor, has recently interviewed at 'Walking with God Through Cancer' for the show 'Unbelievable?.'

Ruth Jackson and Justin Brierley host the show.

It was revealed that he and his wife, Kathy, have seen their prayer lives expand and mature due to facing his disease together.

He stated that never in a million years would either of them want to return to the same kind of prayer life and spiritual life they had before the cancer diagnosis.

His battle with cancer had given him a firsthand experience of the words found in Psalm 90:14, Keller added.

Keller stated that the treatment for his disease has caused him to slow down, which he described as 'beneficial' for him and everyone else in his immediate environment.

He said the book of Psalms, which addresses a wide range of emotions and problems from guilt to sadness, is a source of solace for him.

It reportedly helped him with the anxiety that is a direct result of his diagnosis.

As stated, Keller said that the Psalms would teach people more than any other book could. He maintains his devotion to the Psalms and his regular workout routine to deal with the anxiousness.

Keller disclosed that after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in May 2020, he had been treated with chemotherapy for the past two years.

He is currently participating in an immunotherapy drug trial conducted by the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

Ptr. Tim Keller

Timothy Keller, his wife, Kathy, and their three young sons established the Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan in 1989.

Keller still serves as the founding pastor of the church. Over 28 years, he served as the pastor of a multiethnic group of young professionals whose weekly attendance eventually surpassed 5,000.

As stated, Dr. Keller was born in Pennsylvania and raised there. He attended Bucknell University, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Westminster Theological Seminary for his higher education.

His prior positions include associate professor of Practical Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary, pastor of West Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, Virginia, and director of Mercy Ministries for the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America.

In addition, he is the chairman and co-founder of Redeemer City to City (CTC). The organization establishes new churches in New York City and other worldwide cities.

It provides books and other materials for ministry in an urban setting.

In 2017, Dr. Keller moved to CTC full-time to teach and supervise church planters and students enrolled in the City Ministries Program.

It is reportedly a joint initiative between CTC and Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS).

In addition, he collaborates with the global affiliates of CTC to initiate church-planting movements.

Furthermore, he is also a writer. Over 2 million copies of Dr. Keller's books have been sold and translated into 25 other languages.

His publications include "The Reason for God," a bestseller in the New York Times, and "The Prodigal God."
