Trinity Church's retreat center to hold art workshop highlighting 'God in plain sight'

The Trinity Church Wall Street has recently invited the faithful to an art retreat and workshop. The event will reportedly center on highlighting "God in plain sight."

As reported, the Trinity Retreat Center will host the icon-painting retreat. The venue is the religious center of the Trinity Church Wall Street.

The event will happen for three days, starting from June 17, Friday, at 9 a.m. until Sunday, June 19, at 2 p.m.

Icon-Painting Retreat

According to a press release, the icon-painting retreat will feature artist Kelly Latimore. He is among the most well-known religious icon artists of this generation, the report noted.

Latimore aims to show his contemporary take on centuries-old techniques of iconography. Iconography is a specific system of image types used by artists to interpret specific meanings.

His creations reportedly replace figures from traditional Bible imagery with other characters. Latimore's icons frequently showcase the marginalized sector and the oppressed.

Meanwhile, the church posted that the retreat will allow participants to learn icon painting. It will reportedly give them the chance to create their icons with Latimore.

The artist, on the other hand, will also tackle the basics of icon painting. He will reportedly teach attendees the process and techniques to create the said artwork.

Aside from the icon workshop, the retreat will also engage participants in prayer and silent sessions. The event will also reportedly allow them to have conversations with each other.

"This retreat is suitable for newcomers to icon-making and experienced artists," the press release read.

The icon-painting retreat is also reportedly open for both adults and young people. Participants must be comfortable in joining adult discussions and activities, the report added.

Registration, Accommodation

As per the press release, interested individuals must register to join the multi-day retreat. They must reportedly complete the online registration form.

The retreat center also enumerated the lodging options that retreatants may choose from.

People may avail of a shared room with a king bed worth $755. They may also reportedly select a private room with a king bed for $485.

Apart from that, there is also a single shared room with twin beds worth $450. Individuals may also pay $720 for a double shared room with twin beds.

The retreat center also reportedly offers a single-occupancy room worth $225 per night. Meanwhile, the double-occupancy room costs $180 per person each night.

It can be noted that the payment for the accommodation includes meals and icon-writing materials.

"Rooms are typically configured with two twin beds," the press release added. "There is a $35 surcharge for a room with a king bed."
