Gethsemane Church to host kids' retreat

Gethsemane Church will host a retreat for grades six to eight from Friday to Saturday, Feb. 24 to 25, at Camp Aloma in Prescott.

JH Winter Retreat 

Gethsemane Church announced that its grades six to eight would have a chance to get away, engage in an exciting time with other kids, and, most importantly, thrive in their relationship with Christ and others. 

It provided details about the JH Winter Retreat through its website.

Gethsemane Church shared that kids would play games, eat, worship, and spend time studying the Bible. 

Participants will leave Gethsemane after school on Friday, Feb. 24, at around 4 p.m. Then, they will be expected to return to Gethsemane around 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. 

The registration for JH Winter Retreat will cover dinner, breakfast, lunch, and accommodations.

Gethsemane Church gathers for worship services on Sundays. These in-person services are scheduled at 8 a.m. for the traditional and 10 a.m. for live-streaming.

As shared on its website, Gethsemane Church is a member congregation of the Lutheran-Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). It stated what it means to be a Lutheran. 

The church shared that as a Lutheran congregation, it accepts the scriptural truths that inspired the Christian Church’s reformation in the 16th century. According to the church, this ultimately led to a renewed focus on the Gospel.  

Gethsemane Church believes that the Lord is extremely loving and powerful. 

They value meeting people where they are, saying the Bible is the truth, and saying life is better when shared. It also believes in pursuing excellence, life-transforming worship, and taking fun seriously. Finally, Gethsemane Church believes in thinking big and taking chances.

Furthermore, the church exists to know Jesus more and make Him more known.  

Troy Schmidt is the Senior Pastor at Gethsemane Church. Pastor Schmidt shared it is his job to awaken and empower the local church to maximize its Kingdom impact.

He expressed feeling blessed that the Lord called him to do such at Gethsemane.  

At the same time, Jerry Kosberg serves as the church’s Assistant Pastor. He provides pastoral care, particularly to the elderly and home-bound members.

Pastor Kosberg helps with hospital calls and teaches or leads Bible classes. 

Additionally, he assists in worship leadership/preaching as Pastor Schmidt assigns.

Michael Verburg is the Worship Pastor. He provides an authentic worship experience for all who want to live for Jesus Christ authentically. 

On the other hand, Christy Schmidt as the Director of Family Ministry.
