Awaken Church to host 80’s musical presentation on Ebenezer Scrooge' story

Awaken Church will host a classic Christmas story and music of the ’80s from Thursday to Saturday, Dec. 8 to 17.

The church’s Facebook page posted that they will produce a story with a mesmerizing live production. They added that the show would be a combination of drama and humor. 

About Production

Awaken Church explained that the story is based on the tragic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge. He is a man who hates Christmas because of his past experiences. They explained that in the production, the church made twisted chronicles about the backstory of Scrooge.

In addition, they would have a backdrop performance of their favorite 80’s songs. They said the audience would laugh, cry and fall in love with this show that could redeem their Christmas spirit, as explained on the website.

They added that the show is a re-imagined twist on a classic story of Christmas.

As for the schedule, the church said it would start on Thursday evening on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. Then on the following day, the performance would start earlier at 6 p.m. then repeat at 8:30 p.m.

In addition, on Saturday, the church would have three shows in the afternoon. As further explained on the website, they would follow this schedule until Dec. 17. 

Story of Ebenezer Scrooge

According to the Britannica website, Ebenezer Scrooge is a fictional character in Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol in 1843. They noted that people remember his character as bitter and miserable “Scrooge” rather than the transformed man. 

The writer allows Scrooge to review his life and transform the result in the story. They explained that the Ghost of Christmas Past revealed to him his early life as a student. As mentioned on the website, he was also an apprentice and a young man in love.

In addition, the Ghost of Christmas Present made Scrooge realize that being happy is not about wealth. They went to his most-abused clerk and his generous nephew Fred who has married because of love, as narrated on the website.

On the website, the Ghost of Christmas allowed him to see what would happen to him if he continued to be bitter. They noted that Scrooge would die lonely, and no one would mourn his death.

The desperate man changed after witnessing all these things, as emphasized on the website. Scrooge immediately turned his ways and gave generously to others. He found redemption and happiness, as noted on the website.

Becoming Film

Meanwhile, the Britannica website that the Christmas Carol named Scrooge was aired as a British dramatic movie in 1951. They emphasized that this film was regarded as the best adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic tale.

They added that it became a favorite film during the Christmas season because televisions broadcast it frequently.

Moreover, they emphasized that the modestly budgeted movie aired in the United Kingdom became a holiday classic. They stated that many versions of the story were released before, and other versions emerged.

The website noted that this film adaptation was rooted in Sim’s memorable interpretation of Scrooge and had set the standard.
