Harbor City Church raises Christmas offerings for Ugandan students

Harbor City Church asked for funds or Christmas offerings for the students in Uganda until Sunday, Dec. 18.

The church’s website noted that its goal is to raise $7,000 for its care funds and scholarships. They explained that the $3,000 Care Funds would offer housing, food, and transportation financial aid.

Moreover, the church would use the care funds for the student's medical care and counseling for people in their congregation. 

In addition, Harbor City Church noted that they would be giving five full scholarships for a year. The website explained that their scholarships include students’ housing, food, and tuition fees. 

As mentioned on the website, the initiatives would be given to the students at Christ School in Bundibugyo, Uganda. They added that missionaries Mike and Kacie Forrest serve in the said school.

Christ School Bundibugyo

According to the school’s website, Christ School seeks to be an academically excellent senior high school boarding school. They want to produce servant-leaders for the benefit of Bundibugyo and God’s glory.

Moreover, Christ School Bundibugyo is a Christian, co-educational high school in western Uganda, as stated on the website. They are open for students from Senior one to Senior six or grades 7 to 12. 

The website said they are a boarding school; learners could live on campus each term. They added that they eat three meals a day and sleep in dormitories. 

In addition, the website mentioned that the school provides extracurricular clubs and sports opportunities. They also offer classes, chapel, and Sunday church service, as stated on the website.

School’s Strategies

Christ School highlighted that they center its vision and mission on Christ. They said that they need a long-term coordinated effort to achieve their goals. 

According to the website, the school offers instructional and leadership development for its workers. Besides, they provide tools for discipleship and spiritual growth for both students and staff.

Christ School seeks to give students secure and efficient facilities and resources.

Working with Community

According to the same website, the school aims to work with community members and leaders to train them to expand their work. They explained that they are partnering with the Board of Governors, which is made up mostly of Ugandans in the Bundiugyo District.

The school mentioned that some board members are local government officials and elders in the churches and tribes.

The website states that accountants and business leaders are also part of the board.

Christ School said these board members could help them offer a holistic approach to their mission and vision.

About Teachers

The website noted that many school workers live in the surrounding villages. They highlighted that almost half of their staff were alums and returned to give back to their school.

Moreover, they stated that teachers live on campus to cultivate a familial environment and community of faith. Besides, their educators provide motivation and hope to the students at Christ school, as revealed on the website. 

The teachers help their students work hard to achieve their long-term academic goals, as added on the website.
