Awaken Church to host Christmas toy drive for kids

Awaken Church will hold a "Night of Christmas Toy Drive" on Saturday, Dec. 3, for Promises2Kids and Olive Crests organizations.

The church’s Facebook page announced that they would collect toys at the entrance of Rady’s Shell. It emphasized that there are more than 3,000 foster children in San Diego, and all the toys collected will proceed to the said organizations to give them out to children.

Night of Christmas

According to the church’s website, Night of Christmas would be in its third annual installment. They would serve people in San Diego with new family Christmas customs, as noted on the website. 

Besides, they said that they would be highlighting classic Christmas carols and live fireworks. As further mentioned, the spectacular night would feature a symphony orchestra, breathtaking aerialists, and exciting storytelling. 

Moreover, the website said that there would be a lot of festivities. 

Rady Shell at Jacobs Park

The same website revealed that the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is a state-of-the-art architecture on the edge of San Diego Bay and the city's center. They emphasized that the Rady Shell is a long-time civic desire for a place for concerts. 

In addition, they said that it levels up the experience of watching live music while also serving as a public center for all of the people in San Diego.

More importantly, the website stated that private philanthropy had almost provided the funds for the five-year-long project. They added that the San Diego Symphony led the said project and hosted business and government leaders. 

The website stressed that they did the project in honor of the city’s downtown renaissance. They explained that the Rady Shell has a dramatic design and a great waterfront area. 

Besides, they said the place has a lot of potential regarding tourism, residential lifestyle, and business growth.  

Toys for Promise2Kids

The Promise2Kids website explained that they are a leading nonprofit organization founded 40 years ago. They added that the group was regarded as the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation of San Diego County. 

Moreover, they revealed that they provided for the needs of foster kids. Also, they have offered support to those neglected in their home because of abuse. 

The website said they serve more than 3,000 current and former foster young people in San Diego yearly. As further explained, the organization gives resources, opportunities, and mentorship that they need to deal with their situation.

Primary Programs

Promise2Kids wants these children to win over the struggles of their past and mature into healthy, joyful, and victorious adults. They highlighted that they have four primary programs to support their mission.

These programs include Polinsky Children’s Center, Camp Connect, Guardian Scholars, and Foster Funds, as posted on the website. 

The website emphasized that, as of today, the Polinsky Children’s Center offers shelter, security, and help for over 1,000 kids annually. 

In addition, they said that the center is a national model for nurturing and security of abused kids, with people from Saudi Arabia going to San Diego to learn about the facility.
