The congregation of Canyon Springs is all invited to join the exceptional Sunday service of Canyon Springs to give respect to their dads as they celebrate Father’s Day on June 19 at the Marshall Middle School.

The church announcement posted that they are planning an excellent morning for their fathers. A special Father’s Day message and amazing worship will be hosted as posted on their website. The church also prepared delicious breakfast burritos. Also, they would have a competitive lawn game that would be participated by dads against each other and dads against their children.

They also reminded fathers to enjoy their day and wear the shirt with the stain on it or not- “it’s your day,” your choice. Their service starts at 9:30. The church would provide hot coffee and a delicious breakfast burrito, and he would bond with other dads.

Canyon Springs Men’s Ministry

According to the men’s section of the church website, the men’s program is a simple approach to connecting with other guys from Canyon Springs. They added that most male members join at home and work just fine, but most bonding with other men ends after high school, as revealed on the website. Their culture challenges men to be self-created lone ranger types, but the reality is that they need each other just like a sports team.

The church noted that they host meet-ups and hangouts, bible studies, and retreats. They also have great ways to mature spiritually.

They also posted current Men's Options. The church holds Daily Essentials Bible Study, which started in January. They also have the Conquer Group, which deals with the battle against pornography. Besides, they hold M2 a breakfast with complimentary burritos and a speaker to encourage guys in the church. This event is done every month, as posted on their announcement.

Every week, fathers at Canyon Springs also hold Dad for High Schoolers, where they would have a book study.

Root of Father’s Day

The History website revealed that the nation’s first Father’s Day was commemorated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington. But, it was not until 1972, 58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official, that the day of giving respect to dad became a nationwide holiday in the U.S.

They mentioned that the movement to celebrate the nation’s fathers did not meet with the same enjoyment as the mother’s day celebration. As one florist explained, it is because dads do not have the same emotional attraction as mothers.

Meanwhile, on July 5, 1908, a West Virginia church hosted the nation’s first program explicitly in honor of dads. They noted that It was a Sunday sermon about the 362 men who died in the previous December’s explosions at the Fairmont Coal Company mines in Monongah. The website said it was a one-time celebration and not done yearly.

The following year, the website said that  Sonora Smart Dodd,  a Spokane, Washington, one of the six children raised by a widower, tried to build an official equivalent to Mother’s Day for male parents. She went to local churches, the YMCA, shopkeepers, and authorities to ask for support for her idea, and she succeeded. The website stated that Washington State celebrated the nation’s first statewide Father’s Day on June 19, 1910.
