Pastor’s Story
The church website informed about how McKinney and his wife started their ministry.
According to them, McKinney was a surfer in a small beach town in Florida, in a house that his father built. They stated that his family attends the Assemblies of God church down the road every Sunday.
McKinney shared that at the age of 17, he had a life-changing moment with God that would transform him forever.
He said that the Lord told him to be a Pastor, and within a year, he was studying at Southeastern University, where he finished his bachelor’s degree in theology.
After his graduation, he and his friends went to Portland, Oregon, to participate in a world-renowned movement (City Bible Church).
The pastor served in that church for 20 years. He also learned and developed the character that would make him lead City Church San Diego.
Over the next 20 years, McKinney with his wife was successful in multiple professional arrears, as stated on the church’s website.
They added that the couple worked in politics and interacted with Congress members, the mayor, and two presidents. That’s when they started their political action committee.
Besides, they mentioned that McKinney became a prosperous land developer and helped plan a megachurch in Seattle.
The church home is now being led by their nephew Judah Smith. Since then, the website said that God used them to build a world-changing church in Southern California.
