City Church San Diego holds Encounter Night for its young members on Friday, Nov. 11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The church’s announcement posted that the event would be an opportunity for them to experience freedom through Biblical teachings, worship, and prayer. They added that the Holy Spirit could empower the youth through this encounter.
City Church San Diego emphasized that this evening could forever transform the youth's life.
Commitment to Church
Lead Pastor Jerry and Tammy McKinney noted in the Connect section that they want members to live the best life. The pastors believed that people could have the best life by being committed to a church.
They explained that Jesus made everyone part of a church family, where they could mature in their relationship with Him.
Besides, pastor McKinney quoted her life verse in Romans 8:28 that says everything works together for good, as God works in their lives. They emphasized that God also works in others too.
More importantly, they emphasized that people could find value and experience a genuine transformation at City Church. They added that they could create long-lasting friendships with others.
Pastor McKinney also believes that a church is not a program but a community of individuals that would assist each other to achieve their God-given purpose.
In addition, the pastor vowed to members that they will become a better version of themselves.
Encountering Jesus
The Christ Chapel Bible Church noted that experiencing Jesus is usually not expected. They highlighted a woman from Samaria wherein Jesus asked her for a drink. The woman was curious why Jesus had asked her for a drink. Jews did not like Samaritans during that time, as explained on the website.
In addition, the website mentioned that the story happened at noon, which is surprising because most people would come to the well in the morning or the evening when the temperature is not hot.
Moreover, they said the woman was shocked since she knew that Jesus was a Jew and should hate her. As further explained, most Jews would not have talked to her. They added that Jews thought Samaritans were unclean,
Jesus's Response
According to the same website, when people meet Jesus, He reveals something they would not realize they needed. The website states that a person often comes to Jesus and wants His help to deal with someone that frustrates him.
The website emphasized that Jesus is patient and shows things to people when they need to hear them. They added that Jesus would use ways that individuals could respond.
They mentioned that Jesus will always get to the real concerns of people’s hearts. Based on the story, Jesus showed the woman’s sin to her, and she realized that Jesus was a prophet.
The website also stressed that Jesus made the woman realize that authentic worship is not about traditions and the past. They also noted that it is not about groups of people.
They said true worship is about those who worship in spirit and truth.
