First Presbyterian Church of San Diego to host street choir’s concert

First Presbyterian Church of San Diego will hold the San Diego Street Choir’s BlesSing Concert on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 4 p.m. at their chapel.

The church's announcement invited its members to watch as the San Diego Street Choir and homeless neighbors put on a concert.

San Diego Street Choir

The San Diego Street Choir website stated that they exist to change lives through God’s gift of music. Ron Bolles, the Founding Director, mentioned that they believe they sing together in a choir; it could help them redeem physical health and mental and emotional conditions.

Bolles emphasized that through their program, they could make relationships between individuals who have suffered from brokenness while living on the streets.

Besides, he believed a holistic and Christian way could satisfy the body and spirit. He added that all their music would be exciting and inspiring. They featured Pop, Gospel, broadway, Christian, and different Contemporary styles, Bolles noted on the website.

Singing Together for Restoration

The same website stressed that becoming a part of a choir is an effective way to redeem the physical, mental, and emotional wellness of individuals who do not have homes. 

As further revealed, most of the major concerts of social service organizations are focused on giving food, shelter, and adjusting opportunities for homeless and vulnerable individuals. But for, the San Diego Street Choir believe that feeling their spiritual hunger is the next step.

According to Choir of Hard Knocks, it is scientifically proven that music gives impressive transformation in one’s body and brain. It could also provide people with spiritual, social, and emotional advantages. 

Benefits of Participating in Choir

San Diego Street Choir noted that being part of their team could lessen the isolation and make a community. They added that they offer a secure environment for people in the streets to express themselves freely. 

At San Diego Street Choir, they explained that they are sincere in helping those who lack self-esteem and do not believe in themselves. As further stated, they provide an artistic outlet for the need.

Moreover, the choir group shows and motivates professionalism every time, as mentioned on the website. They said they deal with spiritual and emotional recovery for those who live on the streets. 

The website highlighted that the organization has 12-step recovery programs to promote spirituality. Members of the San Diego Choir also promote suitable and healthy methods to release stress and express their feelings. 

Reviews on Previews Concert

In another section, San Diego Street Choir posted some feedback from their previews concert in 2019. 

Gina, one of the audience, emphasized that she loved feeling the pride of the performers. She noted that it was an excellent show. 

Another audience response stated that the singer's joy moved her. She was touched by the testimony they shared. Lyn stressed that their music gives her healing. 

Hester, another audience noted that he had fun seeing happy faces and their cheerfulness in creating music.
