Freedom Center encouraged members to join the United Freedom Movement to raise awareness about human trafficking throughout August.

The center is urged by the belief that human trafficking can and will be removed from the city.

Movement

Freedom Center informed members that whether they are avid walkers or runners, they could help in their campaign against human trafficking. They could join in the United for Freedom movement campaign.

The church said they could walk, run, jog, and swim. Participants could also do hiking, cycling, and Zumba. Members could also commit to a plank challenge, as announced on the website.

Whatever members choose, the church said they would set their target and invite others to work with them through fundraising or selecting their form of movement.

How to Get Involved

For the members to join the said campaign, the church noted that they needed to start a team or group. It could be a group of friends or family to have quality time together.

It could also be an excellent opportunity for team building with co-workers. The church added that groups could make a fun team name and set goals.

Those who want to join even without a team can set personal goals. Members could sign up individually.

The website also emphasized that they value pets in this campaign. Members could register their pets. There would be awards for the best-dressed, highest number of miles, and most money collected.

San Diego's Latest News on Human Trafficking

Fox 5 San Diego News website reported on April 27, 2022, that authorities rescued four young girls from a suspected human trafficker in Colton.

The news update said that members of the San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Taskforce rescued them, ranging in age from 17 to 22, in the 400 block of N. Sperry Drive.

The task force found them after they were contacted by their counterparts in San Diego County about a 17-year-old woman who had been reported missing earlier that month. They believed that the girl had been a victim of human trafficking.

The website added that they had given all four victims their needs and medical care. Besides, the teenager has been reunited with her family.

Authorities identified the suspect.

The news mentioned that the authorities identified Devon Stewart as the person accountable for trafficking the four females. In their investigation, they found that Steward exploited them in the “commercialized sex industry.”

During his arrest, the news reported that authorities found him in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol ghost gun and various ecstasy pills.

Fox 5 San Diego News stated that the 33-year-old man is from Lakewood. They put him into the Central Detention Center, where he deals with charges of human trafficking, possession of illegal drugs, and firearm.

The news website added that authorities asked those with information about the case or any human trafficking incidents to contact the San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force. It is a multi-agency partnership comprised of investigators from across the county.
