Good Samaritan Episcopal Church will be holding a community talk with the San Diego City Council District 6 candidates on Sunday, Oct. 09, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The church’s announcement posted that the forum would center on climate change, housing justice, and law-making issues. They emphasized that they seek to know more about the two aspiring representatives of their region in San Diego.

Besides, they encouraged every member of its community to attend because this event is a vital conversation.

About Good Samaritan Church

The church’s about section mentioned that Good Samaritan Church is a medium-sized congregation. They consist of different age groups who have found their spiritual home at Good Samaritan Church, as noted on the website.

Moreover, the website emphasized that they may know each other by name in only a few weeks because they are small in numbers. But they stressed that there are more significant opportunities for them to serve.

The church members believed that they should love to be loved by others. As further explained, the congregation at Good Samaritan Episcopal Church works hard to give genuine love and embrace everyone.

Recent Debate on Housing

The Voice of San Diego website revealed the opinions of the two aspiring candidates for the City Council position. The report noted that Democrat Kent Lee and Tommy Hough are the candidates who discussed Housing in the recent debate reported on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

As further explained, residents who would be voting in District 6 emphasized that housing issues are the city’s significant concern. They reported that 35% of the voters said their top priority is homelessness problems.

In addition, they said that the other 25 % noted that housing costs are their top concern. They said that housing policies could define the upcoming election.

The website highlighted that Hough often discussed the current response of the city on rezoning. As mentioned on the website, he has set down the most apparent difference between his opponents.

On the other hand, the report said that Lee is the executive director of the nonprofit Pacific Arts Movement. They added that Mayor Todd Gloria and six sitting Council members support him. His supporters are the Building and Construction Trades Council and most worker groups.

Agreement on Same Solution

The same news website said that the two candidates agreed that there should be more affordable housing for the people of San Diego. They added that Lee and Hough support the city’s proposal to renew development rules in Kearny Mesa.

They both believe that updating the laws in this area could create more opportunities for dense housing in primarily commercial areas.

As posted on the website, Lee and Hough both stated that it is essential to build housing and infrastructure simultaneously. This solution could meet the region’s climate targets, as added on the website.

However, they emphasized that Hough is more vocal about his disagreement on some housing concerns like innovations that people could not afford. As mentioned on the website, he is an environmentalist and a former radio announcer.
