The PCA, a sister denomination of Hope Presbyterian Church, seeks help to provide food, transportation, homes, and medicine for Ukrainians in hostile places and refugees moving toward the western borders.

With this, the church’s website asks its congregants to donate to Mission to the World (MTW) organization to support victims of war in Ukraine continuously.

Crisis in Ukraine

According to the MTW’s website, as the battle between Ukraine and Russia continues, MTW missionaries and 15 partner churches of the Presbyterian Church of Ukraine are praying for the Lord’s mercy, protection, and wisdom.

They updated their churches in Ukraine, and MTW missionaries in Poland, Romania, and Slovakia care for survivors. They give out food, transportation, supplies, clothing, and housing. The organization emphasized that their need are tremendous, especially for building and replanting sanctuaries in the future.

Latest Update as of May 16, 2022

MTW Ukraine Country Director Jon Eide reported that knowing what is more complicated in this chaos is more challenging. They hear people’s suffering or witness the scale of the hardships they are experiencing during the war. They listen to stories such as not having water in Mikolaev from a Ukrainian pastor.

They noted that Mikolaev, with 500,000 residents, did not have access to water for over a month because of the war. They added that the pastor’s wife and his children moved to Romania, and he has been in charge of Ukrainians from the now-Russian-controlled places. He has been feeding and sheltering them on their way west.

The report stated that the last group he took into his house utilized almost all his saved water. He said in the interview that it was okay. God had given them rain the following day and filled up all his containers. It is an extraordinary story, but the difficult part is that the war makes thousands of such stories, and hundreds of thousands experienced suffering, as posted on the website.

Meanwhile, through the grace of God and donations, they were able to give water to Mikolaev. They also provide food, medicine, and shelter. They were able to give out fuel and other vital necessities that could save their lives.

Kingdom Prayer for Ukraine

As of May 22, 2022, the MTW Ukraine Missionary, Doug Shepherd, and national prayers, Vasyl and Vika, shared their prayer requests. Firstly, they ask believers to pray for individuals such as Vasyl and Vika as they return to their broken homes and cities.

Besides, believers are asked to pray to God against rape, murder, and capture of individuals in Russian-covered areas in Ukraine. They also request to pray for protection for the weak and wisdom for the church in the Krakow crisis group. They ask for understanding from the Lviv church as they prepare for their ministry this summer.

The organization also listed funds for Vasyl and Vika as they prepare for church planting in the future. More importantly, they ask fellow Christians to pray for wisdom, love, and compassion for Vasyl, Vika, and other believers in Ukraine as they spread the gospel in their country.
