Journey Community Church to host weekend

Journey Community Church will hold Transformation Weekend, an event that aims to help people develop a closer connection with God, from Friday to Saturday, Oct. 21 to Oct. 22, in the Plaza Room.

According to the church’s event section, they would discover hindrances that get in their way of connecting with God. They added that the weekend activities are excellent opportunities to experience freedom, healing, and joy.

Finding Community

In another section on the church’s website, it was revealed that Journey Community Church offers various groups so members can find their support and feel they belong in a community.

As further explained, the church offers small groups where they meet on the campus or at some members’ homes. They said that they are conducting discipleship within the topic of a close community.

Besides, in these small groups, the church mentioned that they could create friendships and motivate each other to draw closer to Jesus. They noted that each group studies God’s words, prays, and establishes relationships.

The church designed groups appropriate to their age and needs, as posted on the website.

Safe Place for Support

In addition, the same website explained that the church has a unique group called Care groups to help members have a secure environment while facing various life problems.

Journey Community Church wants its members to feel they are willing to help them connect with God amidst their trials. Some groups they offer are for those who need restoration and healing.

The church also has some groups for members facing divorce and grief from losing their loved ones. Besides, they guide mothers with children who are a part of LGBTQ+ society, as noted on the website.

Obstacles to Connecting with God

According to the Pursuing Intimacy with God (PIWG) website, not confessing sin is one of the reasons why people cannot get closer to God. The website quoted the Scripture in Psalm 66:18 about a psalmist who said that if he had a wicked heart, the Lord would not listen to him.

Moreover, the website explained that those who do not have enough faith in God cannot get to Him intimately. They highlighted the verse in Hebrews 11:6 that it is impossible to honor God if people do not believe in Him.

People who want to ask God for something should not doubt but believe in Him, as written in the Scripture of James 1:6-7. The website stressed that those who worry are like waves in the ocean that the wind tosses.

The Scripture reminded men not to think they will receive anything from the Lord if they do not trust Him.

Disobedience

More importantly, the PIWG website emphasized that those who disobey God could not have an intimate relationship with Him. From the Scripture of John, Jesus said that if people love Him, they will obey His commandment.

The website added God would not be pleased if people hid their sins from one another. They highlighted James 5:16, that God would not hear those who do not know how to accept and confess their mistakes.
