As part of Kairos Church’s local outreach, they collaborate with the San Diego Chapter of Safe Families for Children to build host families who can help host children for a short time, specifically for vulnerable families in times of crisis.

The church’s website encouraged members to get involved in the said local outreach by being a Host Family where they could host children in their homes and being a Family Friend that supports host families.

Also, the church added that they could help by being a Family Coach who gives emotional and spiritual support for host families or a Resource Friend who provides meals or supplies for host families.

Church’s Beliefs

“We believe in a God who transforms lives, revives communities, and renews our world daily,” said on the said website.

With this, the church informed that the name Kairos comes from the Greek word meaning “the divine moment” or “God’s appointed time,” where they think they live in a particular time in which God has excellent visions for His church and the world.

The church desires that God use His church to fulfill His will in His time. Moreover, they also informed that Kairos Christian Church is a part of Act Ministries International (AMI), a community of churches seeking to model the spirituality, vision, and partnership exemplified in the Scripture of Acts.

Safe Families for Children San Diego

Safe Families for Children (SFFC) of Southern California is one of the largest and oldest SFFC chapter sites, as mentioned on the SSFC website. They stated that they are committed to serving families in crises by partnering with the local church, where families open their houses and lives to vulnerable children.

In addition, the said organization informed that their chapter started in 2009, believing that in their vision that Jesus calls them to defend the cause of the weak and the fatherless. Since their humble beginnings, they have increased their target of SFFC to include Los Angeles and Greater Long Beach, Orange Country, North San Diego, Inland Empire, and the Desert Communities, as posted on the said website.

More importantly, they stated that they aim to empower the church, unify families, and prevent children from going into the Foster Care system in these areas.

San Diego Chapter

On the said website, they updated that there are currently over 320 active volunteer Host Families serving in Southern California supported by a team of volunteers who provide transportation, mentoring, employment assistance, and give tangible items such as diaper car seats or meals.

Furthermore, they also said that in San Diego County, there are over 12 active SFFC churches with over 30 volunteer Hos Families among hundreds of volunteers making up ministry teams all over the country since 2012. The effect of these volunteers has resulted in over 100 hostings that have helped keep children safe and families together, the website added.

More importantly, Southern California churches play an essential role in recruiting and supporting their people to serve and reach out to parents in a crisis, as on the organization’s website. They added that churches with various backgrounds are active partners with SFFC of Southern California.
