Lutheran Border Concerns Ministry (LBCM) of Clairmont Lutheran Church helps meet individuals' spiritual and physical needs on the South Border.
The church’s website mentioned that Jesus taught them to help their community when they are in need. These neighbors could be within their area or across the world. The church posted some of its efforts in assisting its community, including the Border Concerns.
Lutheran Border Concerns Ministry
According to the ministry’s website, they have three purposes. The first is to help individuals who live in the southern part of the border. The website added that they assist them in both spiritual and material needs.
Secondly, they aim to give information to people living in the northern part about the spiritual and physical needs of the people in the south. Lastly, they seek to encourage believers in America to meet their mission opportunities and share the Gospel with the Hispanic individuals in their community.
Mission Opportunities; Sharing Blessings
LBCM’s program includes building houses, schools, and churches for the people in Mexico. Their teams came from all over America to help, and they are encouraged to become a part of teaching the Mexican children about Jesus.
The said ministry holds their program for children by planning Bible studies, songs, and crafts. Besides, young adults in the U.S. spend their time playing with children living in Mexico. Also, the website added that the mission team’s experiences had a lasting impact.
More importantly, they emphasized that Jesus loves them so much that he would give them everything they have. The organization said they are so blessed with plenty of food, clothing, comfortable shelters, and the gift of Heaven.
Jesus stated that if they share food with the hungry, it is the same as giving the food to Him. Thus, the website noted that if individuals give presents to Lutheran Border Ministry, they can provide food for the hungry.
The website also highlighted the best part of their efforts in teaching the individuals the Good News of Jesus. The people are grateful, and Jesus would be happy too. In that way, volunteers could also be satisfied, they added.
How it Started
In the 1950’s Lutherans in San Diego bought beans and rice to share with the people below the poverty line in Tijuana, Mexico. Before long, they began to talk about the Lord Jesus with the people they were feeding. The website highlighted that God blessed the ministry of these Lutherans, and their work increased. In 1967, they integrated, and the Lutheran Border Concerns Ministry was born. The said efforts continue to carry out their mission.
Currently, they revealed that they had donated over half a million dollars worth of food to the needy. They have also provided educational materials, clothing, and medicine. The ministry also built sanctuaries in Mexico as a part of their spiritual programs.
Pray for Ministry
For those interested, the first thing the said ministry asks for is prayer. The group asks volunteers to pray for God’s will to happen through LBCM. They mentioned that they are rooted in the passion for helping their neighbors across the Border in Christian love and example. They noted that all prayers for their programs are deeply appreciated.
