New City Church will host Trunk or Treat in celebration of Halloween on Monday, Oct. 31, on Adams Avenue from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The church’s newsletter announced that this would be their second annual “trunktacular” program.

New City Church also prepared a dance party for the children. They added that the registration is free, but they could buy food and drinks at the event.

Call for Volunteers

The same post informed the congregation that the church needed volunteers to make the event “Trunktacular.” New City Church said they require members to let them use their cars for the trunk or treating. They need 20 cars, as the website added.

The church also asks three members to be the greeters during the event and two volunteers to manage the traffic control. They stated that they needed one person to lead a craft table.

Origin of Trunk or Treat

The Urban Dictionary website revealed that the trunk or treat is a kind of Halloween trick or treating. Kids ask for candy and other goodies not from houses, but from car trunks. The website notes that this method could be another way to entertain the children.

According to the website, trunk or treating started in the late 90s in Utah. It has scattered to other areas, mostly in small towns or suburbs in the Midwest and South.

As the website explains, the organizers must provide a parking lot on Halloween afternoon and evening for holding truck-or-treat. Participants will bring their cars and store the trunks with candy.

Halloween in San Diego

Meanwhile, the San Diego Family website posted that the spectacular Halloween celebration in San Diego includes pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and trick-or-treat. They highlighted that there are some other haunted programs.

This year’s Halloween is the Goff Family Pumpkin Patch on Perry Rd. Liberty Station. They started this event on Friday, Sept. 23, and will end on Monday, Oct. 31. Residents and visitors could enjoy lawn games and photo ops.

Moreover, on Friday, Oct. 28, they are offering a movie night at the pumpkin patch. They will show the “Hocus Pocus,” as the website emphasizes. They inform those interested in bringing their blanket and chairs.

In addition, families and children could enjoy free pumpkin stations where they could have fun with the rides and petting zoo. The website said that they opened this place to the public on Sept. 30 and will be available until the end of this month.

They revealed that there are five free station areas: Del Mar, Jimmy Durante Boulevard, Mission Valley at Rancho Bernardino, and Highland Valley at Plaza Bonita. Residents at Plaza Bonita, National City, could also enjoy the free event, as noted on the website.

Family Activities

Meanwhile, the website also featured the free family Christmas Tree Farm Pumpkin Patch, where families could enjoy hay rides, a hay bale maze, and many activities at Pepper, El Cajon.

Besides, they could join the Howl-o-Ween Harvest Family Festival, where they could interact with amazing animals. They could also get a mini pumpkin and use it for the midnight mystery lab.
