Newbreak Church will work with the Bridge Builders Network to host a Christmas fair for newly arrived Afghan families on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Salvation Army.

The church’s website announced that the event would be an excellent chance to demonstrate Christ’s love to Afghan refugees.

They added that through the program, the church could also share the true definition of Christmas. They also emphasized that they wanted the Afghan refugees to understand why the Savior came for everyone.

Christmas Fair

According to the website, the fair would have crafts and games for children. As further posted, there would also be hospitality tents for both men and women.

Moreover, Afghan families could enjoy food and have fun in their photo booth and henna. The church said they prepared a lot of activities during the fair.

In addition, Newbreak Church encouraged its members to bring their entire families to serve during the event. They explained that they could help them set up the place and welcome their guests.

Also, the members could assist with a booth or help clean up after the program, as mentioned on the website.

Welcoming Afghans Efforts

The Bridge Builders Network website highlighted that one of their programs is to welcome Afghans to San Diego. They emphasized that they seek to bring hope and nurture these refugees by establishing new friendships rooted in safety and trust.

Moreover, the website cited the Scripture in Leviticus 19:34, which said that God’s people should treat the foreigner living in the same area the way they treat the natives. The Bible added that people should love them as they love themselves.

From this, God told His people they were foreigners in Egypt.

Programs offered for families

In a post from the website on Tuesday, Nov. 15, the church announced they offering various programs for men, women, and children. They noted that they provide opportunities for men to learn English and drive lessons.

The website stated that the organization holds special events to welcome newly arrived families.

Besides, Bridge Builder Network plans to provide ESL and to drive lessons to women, as further mentioned on the website. They admitted that they still need financial support so they can sustain their staff and their efforts,

In May 2022, the website also offered used bicycles for adults. They added that they work with local church partners to conduct special group programs.

More importantly, the website revealed that most of these families still need to get cars. But the organization is thankful that God provided another passenger van through their friends at Bridge of Hope.

According to the website, Bridge of Hope also serves Afghan families. Besides, they noted that the San Diego office of Jane Oak Law Firm provides immigration clinics for these families.

Need for More Help

The same website emphasized that the Bridge Builder Network still needs a woman volunteer to drive their van for Afghan women to go to their sewing program. They also need staff to tutor the children, as posted on the website.

Moreover, the organization said it still needs financial support for its staff to supply their expenses. Also, they announced that they needed churches and families to work with them so they could create friendships with foreign families.
