OB One Church honors elementary staff as local heroes

OB One Church honored the OB Elementary staff as local heroes as they started the 2022–2023 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

The church’s Facebook page announced that the church treated them for lunch as their gratitude. They noted that this program is a way to show that the church cares for its community. 

OB Elementary 

According to the San Diego Unified School District website, the staff at OB Elementary are dedicated and active. They noted that they have regular meetings to plan, evaluate, and apply teaching methods that would be appropriate for every student. 

The website noted that these methods make them problem solvers for the next few years to come. At OB Elementary, they said that educators have high expectations for the students so they can reach their maximum potential. 

They added that teachers guide and support the students to meet their needs.

As further posted, Marco Drapeau, the school’s principal, stated that the school has been acknowledged as a California Distinguished School for its academic success. He said that they believe that their strategic approach gave them the chance to get these honors.

The same website posted that teachers at OB Elementary are working effectively with families. Marco emphasized that they believe that children could thrive once enrolled at the school.

Delivering World-Class Education

Meanwhile, Drapeau mentioned that their primary mission of giving a world-class education to their students has not changed throughout the years. As further explained, OB Elementary has been giving high-quality service in the community for more than one hundred years.

The same website noted that the school offers a firm educational experience to its learners. They added that the majority of their teachers at OB Elementary have GATE certification. 

Moreover, the website highlighted that their students are ready to face various types of individuals because of the school’s diverse culture. They emphasized that there are more than 400 pupils from kindergarten through grade four students enrolled in the school.

They added that their student body is ethnically and socio-economically diverse.

Caring Community

In addition, the principal stressed that they are thankful to have a caring community that is very active in helping the school. He noted that the parents are supportive and know their vital role in the success of their students.

The website said that some parents spend their time listening to Marco’s message on any given morning. They added that the school offers free coffee to parents who want to be involved in their community every Friday.

OB Elementary also highlighted that they conduct student recognition to feature students who have been good role models to others, as further mentioned.

Valuing Arts

The same website mentioned that OB Elementary School believes that the arts are a vital part of the learning process of children. They said that they offer dance, visual arts, and theater for students. The students could also enroll in their hip-hop and poetry classes depending on grade level, as stated on the website. 

At OB Elementary School, they stressed that students are learning from trained artists. They are professional educators to assist the students. Besides, their teachers are passionate about supporting learners to have a perspective on the world, as the website noted.
