Pacific Hope Church encouraged all girls at junior and senior high schools to attend their study on "Knowing God" by J.I. Packer on Sunday, Sept. 18, at Rudgers’ home in Bay Park.

The church's announcement posted that they would gather every first and third Sunday of the month.

Knowing God

According to Amazon’s website, Parker used his theological knowledge in writing the book Knowing God. They noted that the book aims to change and nurture Christian knowledge of God.

As further explained, Parker explained both God’s identity and how people could connect to him. In his book, he discussed the attributes of God and the advantages of having a relationship with him.

Besides, the website emphasized that readers could learn more about God through the author's advice. He gave some tips on how people could gain an intimate relationship with God, as written in the book.

The website stressed that the book is written interactively and realistically. The Amazon website revealed that the book was included in the 2016 World Magazine’s Topping the Top 50.

Also, Christianity Today recognized “Knowing God” as one of the top 50 books that have shaped evangelicals in 2006. The website mentioned that it received the Platinum Book Award from, Evangelical Christian Publishing Association.

Author's Background

On another Amazon webpage, they highlighted that Parker is currently working as the Board of Governors’ Professor of Theology at Regent College, Vancouver. They added that he is an ordained Anglican minister.

Moreover, Parker finished his doctorate in philosophy at Oxford University, as further posted on the website. They emphasized that he published many books, such as “Rediscovering Holiness” and “Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God.”

The same website stated that Parker’s best-selling book is "Knowing God.”

Home Fellowship

The church’s website mentioned that the Pacific Hope Church Home Fellowships are small groups gathering weekly. They emphasized that this program is a way for members and their families to create deeper relationships.

Having home gatherings could help them connect to God and mature in Christ, as further explained on the website. They said that it was designed to offer a close-knit group for bonding, prayer, and Bible study.

The same website said that each group has its schedule and meeting areas.

Training Children

The church’s children's section explained that Pacific Hope Church created this program to equip each child with the Gospel. The church wants the children to find a reason to share hope in them.

More importantly, the church seeks to guide parents in making their children disciples of Jesus. They noted that they offered care based on the Gospel so they could teach the Word of God.

Pacific Hope Church’s mission for its children's ministry is rooted in the scripture from Proverbs 22:6. The scripture says that parents should train their kids in their paths so when they grow up they will not forget them.

The church informed parents that they hoped and prayed that their kids would be motivated and mature in their knowledge of Jesus. They believe that this ministry could give glory to God.
