People’s Church San Diego hosts a six-week workshop for parents every Thursday, which began on Sept. 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The church’s website posted that the workshop focuses on discovering the most profound parenting principles of God’s word. They highlighted that theme for the seminar is “Love Powered.”
Uncovering Psychological Truths
The same website explained that Love-Powered parenting would help participants to know about their children from a psychological perspective. They added that they could also learn valuable ways to help them deal with their kids daily.
As further mentioned, the workshop would help members understand God’s perspective in terms of parenting. The People’s Church also encourages all parents to attend the course and bring their friends.
Effect of Parental Love
The Parental for Brain website revealed that the belief in parental love or rejections affects 26% of the kids' psychological adjustment and 21% of adults’ mental development. They explained that the parent-child relationship is particularly vital to kids.
The website mentioned that a child’s sense of emotional security and mental well-being depends on their relationship with their children. They noted that the “Enduring Effects” model of development explains that early parental love could have positive results in later life.
As further explained on the website, parental love could affect each life stage, such as childhood, youth, and adulthood.
Positive Effects of Parental Love
The same website highlighted some advantages if children could feel their parents' love. They stated that parental love plays a crucial part in a child's success.
According to Harvard University research in 1938, satisfying and successful lives result from having a good connection with parents. They explained that parents' acceptance and love for their kids are the best indicators of future success, happiness, and satisfaction.
Besides, those kids filled with love and acceptance by their parents tend to have higher self-esteem, as further explained.
Children lacking Parental Love
Another Harvard study stated that those who did not encounter parental love more than twice had physical diseases after 35 years. These illnesses could include coronary artery disease, hypertension, and duodenal ulcer, as mentioned on the website.
More importantly, the Harvard Mastery of Stress Study in 1950 said that children who did not feel their parent’s love would most likely be addicted to alcohol.
The research stated that those who feel neglected as kids develop low self-esteem and self-worth. As further explained on the website, these children think of themselves as what their parents think of them.
The website said not being loved and accepted by parents left the kids feeling unloved and not worthy.
Handling Problems
The same website revealed that the children’s way of facing problems is also affected by how their parents handle struggles. They explained that kids whose mothers demonstrate their loving and caring feelings have a unique way of dealing with emotional challenges.
In addition, they said that children could handle their emotions better if they had loving and accepting parents.
As explained on the website, they could have better control in dealing with their mental health.
