Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church announced Sarah Butterfield as their new Director of Children and Families on Tuesday, Jan.12.

The church’s Facebook page highlighted that Butterfield is an author and a teacher. She also served as the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOP) coordinator.

According to them, she is the most suitable person for the job since she has two boys and took her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church encouraged its members to welcome Butterfield whenever they see her in the church.

Meanwhile, Butterfield says in the comment section that she is excited to take her new role.

More about Sarah Butterfield

The church’s website revealed things about the director. She stated that her favorite Bible story is about Elija. She explained that she loves it when God takes care of His people, just as He took care of Elijah.

In the story from 1 King 19, Elijah wanted to die, but God made him sleep, eat something, and give a friend or a colleague, Elisha.

In addition, Butterfield said that her favorite worship song is My Hope is Built. Also, she said that her couch is her favorite place in the world.

She mentioned her first job as a sandwich maker and waitress at a Bakery or cafe on the website.

Children Ministry

In the church’s children section, they noted that they offer a program for kids in preschool to grade five. They stated that they gathered them in the children’s center for a worship service intended for them.

As further noted, the children have their worship service while their parents and guardians attend the service in the Sanctuary.

The church mentioned that they also offer child care for six months to three years old kids.

Moreover, the children's ministry holds weekly programs for “Bible Memory.” They said they have a Bible Memory Class for children from grade three and above.

The website said that the class coincides with the Cafe Worship service. The students learn the history of the Bible and memorize the books in the Old and New Testaments, as noted on the website.

In addition, class participants should also memorize Bible verses, the ten commandments, and the Lord’s Prayer. Also, they said that they should know all the disciples.

In this class, the church said that they motivate the children to have a deeper understanding of the Bible and learn its significance in their daily lives.  The class meets every Sunday morning during the school year, as posted on the website.

Children’s Music Ministry

Another church’s program for the children is the music ministry. The website said they welcome all kids in grades two to six to join their Children’s choir and Bible Beat class.

The church stated that in this ministry, they would learn God’s Word by drumming Bible story grooves in the “Bible Beat Drumming” part of the class.
