Rock Church El Cajon will celebrate its 9th annual community Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at El Cajon.
The Brushfire website announced that the church wants to make the event a special day for its community. They added that it would also be an excellent chance to share extensive hope and God’s love with their neighborhood.
Community Thanksgiving Outreach
Rock Church said they would share God’s word and provide a sit-down Thanksgiving meal as a part of their tradition. The church would also have worship time and prayer tents during the event.
In addition, the website posted that there would be a lot of activities for the children and the entire family. As added on the post, participants could enjoy having haircuts, clothing, and bike tune-ups.
Moreover, the church also prepared a health screens area for those who want to have their health checkups. There would also be a lot of resources and kid’s zones, as highlighted on the website.
The church noted that all the activities would be free for the entire community.
Asking for Support
The same website emphasized that the church is looking for volunteers. They explained that they would appreciate financial aid to help them provide meals for 200 visitors. The budget would also be used for offering clothing, haircuts, and hygiene kits, as further mentioned.
Besides, Rock Church revealed that a $25 donation could help a guest with this community outreach. They added that for a $200 gift, members could support eight visitors at a table.
More importantly, the website announced that they also collect backpacks, blankets, tents, and raincoats. The members could also donate socks, undergarments, sleeping bags, and hand towels, as noted on the website.
Those interested were advised they could drop off these things at EC Campus the week of the program, as posted on the website. Besides, they asked all volunteers to arrive earlier to check in and help prepare.
Community Events at Rock Church
The church’s website revealed that Community Events is a ministry at the Rock Church that organized effective programs for the development of the community.
They noted that the congregation could serve and provide for the needs of their neighborhood through these events.
As further mentioned, the church opens many opportunities for the members to be part of their community outreach. They stated that members could help in serving their neighborhood. They could also join any ministries so they could be involved with others to connect and grow together.
In addition, Rock Church also noted that its congregation could make their group and lead others to help them in their journey. They explained that they could establish a support group for others.
Other Community Programs
Aside from community programs, the church also has the Provisions Ministry. This team offers food to the vulnerable people in the community. The ministry also encourages them by sustaining their spiritual needs, as the website explains.
The website said that members pray for people in need and motivate them.
