Rock Church encouraged its members to help prepare 270,000 meal kits for their Pakistan Relief Project on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Point Loma Campus.

The church’s website announced they are working with Kids Around the World to make their goal possible. They added that the church members and their friends have committed to giving one complete shopping package of food to those in need.

State of Crisis in Pakistan

According to the website, Pakistan suffers from severe flooding that leads to a state of crisis. As further explained, there are more than 1,500 individuals who have died. They revealed that half of these numbers are children.

Moreover, they emphasized that over 33 million people were displaced. The website said the flooding caused difficult unsanitary situations for the people. They added that they do not have enough medicine, clean water, and food for everyone.

The Rock Church exposed that millions of people need supplies and help from these devastating situations. They stated that waters might recede, but the impact has caused much suffering.

Fighting with Enending War

The BBC News website revealed that the floods in Pakistan are like fighting an eternal war. In recent news posted on Tuesday, Oct. 4, the news website highlighted Doctor Ammara Gohar as one of the front liners.

Gohar states they have a complicated situation since it involves environmental cases. She added that this problem is more complex than dealing with patients with Covid.

The website explained that the doctor works out of a school in rural Sindh province.

They emphasized that this area had the worst effect in the floods. As further explained, nearly 75% of districts in Sindh Province still flood. They said that there are many underwater roads. The website said that only those in isolated areas could avail of medical assistance.

Medical Crisis

Meanwhile, Unicef’s Aadarsh Laghari said in an interview that Pakistan is under a medical crisis. She explained that as part of the medical group, they went to a village that needed their help, but their biggest problem was the accessibility.

She stressed that the medical needs of these people are increasing daily.

More importantly, the BBC news mentioned that according to health officials, there are over 140,000 cases of malaria in Sindh. This report is based on their first three weeks of assessment in September alone, as added on the website.

As further explained, there are a lot of individuals in far-flung areas that could not get tested. The website stated that this result means they expect much higher disease cases.

Because of this result, the website noted that they need urgent mobile medical units.

Malnourished People

On the same website, Gohar emphasized that there are a lot of individuals who suffer from a lack of nutrition. The report noted that she checked up on a nine-month-old baby named Saima, who suffers from severe malnourishment.

Gohar examined a three-year-old Gulhabar in another village and found out that he had scabs on his face and his body was weak. The doctor noted that his case was caused by drinking and washing with unclean water.
