San Diego Christian Fellowship delivered the items from its Operation Christmas Child boxes at Communion Church on Thursday, Nov. 17.

The church’s Facebook page announced that they prayed over the boxes before giving them to Communion Church.

They added that they are thankful to all their members as they participated in showing love to children worldwide.

San Diego Christian Fellowship hopes they can bless these kids with tangible presents and the fantastic gift of the Gospel.

Operation Christmas Child Boxes

The Samaritan Purse website explains that shoebox gifts made online go to places hard to reach for children. They said whether they are in deep jungles, city slums, or steep mountainsides.

They revealed that most of these areas resist the Gospel because of their cultural or religious beliefs. They added that these are home to many unreached individual groups. Also, some have not heard about the name Jesus, as mentioned on the website.

In addition, building a shoebox online could offer Christians in remote areas a unique way to share the Gospel. They noted that they could spread the Good News by being sensitive to their culture.

The organization highlighted the Scripture from Matthew 28:19, wherein Jesus told His disciples to go and make people His disciples in all countries. By filling shoeboxes, they could fulfill the Great Commission, as emphasized on the website.

Journey of Shoebox

In another section, the organization revealed how they reach out to people from a simple shoe box. They stated that it begins with an individual and results in evangelizing others and making them disciples. Then, they noted that it would end up multiplying to more followers of Jesus.

At first, they explained that the journey starts with packing, wherein children to seniors could participate. They added that they could pack shoebox gifts yearly to bless vulnerable children worldwide.

As further mentioned, parents often use this project to teach their children to give. The website noted that volunteers support these initiatives throughout the country.

Churches and organizations of all sizes gather boxes from their communities, as stated on the website. They mentioned that some churches also open their facilities as drop-off locations for shoeboxes every third week of November.

According to the website, the last part of the shoebox journey is shipping. The website said that thousands of volunteers serve every year to inspect and prepare the shoeboxes for international shipping.

They said that they stop every hour for a few minutes to pray for the kids who will receive the boxes.

Moreover, the church stated that they believe that God made them have a connection with Him and others. They added that they long for God and the community to know them.

In addition, at Communion Church, they think God called them, regardless of their background, to be part of the Kingdom.
