The Church at Rancho Bernardo (RB) will host the August Tag Drive for three weeks to distribute gift cards to organizations in need from Aug. 14 to Aug. 28.

The church’s website said they would give them to the RESPECT, San Diego Youth Symphony (SDYS), Brookview, the Boys and Girls Club, Youth In Transition, and others.

It encouraged its members to participate in donating gift cards.

As informed on the website, members could grab a tag in the church’s lobby or register online to buy the gift cards.

The church said that gift cards purchased online should be returned to the organizers.

RESPECT Project

One organization that would receive the said gift cards is the Respect Project.

According to the SD Sheriff’s Department website, the RESPECT Project is designed to build the character of teenagers.

It also provides a mentoring program for young people, as added on the website.

In addition, the same website noted that the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department established the RESPECT Project in 2014.

As further explained, they are serving across the North County region.

The RESPECT Project is a commitment for 16 weeks to lessen juvenile crimes and avoid reconviction.

In this program, the website mentioned providing other activities as alternatives to street gangs and drug abuse.

The website said their programs allow teenagers freedom from being trapped in the criminal justice system.

They also stressed that they provide teenagers the chance to enrich their decision-making skills. RESPECT encourages them and gives comprehensive tools.

San Diego Youth Symphony

Another benefactor of the said gift cards from the Church at RB is the SDYS.

The SDYS aims to give motivational, educational experiences, as stated on its website.

They added that they want the youth to be entitled to excellence in music to achieve personal growth.

As further explained, the SDYS believes music is a way to give youth the emotional skills they need. It could also improve academic skills.

They said that young people could level up from the traditional educational approaches.

Through their program, teenagers could prepare for the “21st-century workforce.”

At SDYS, they honor all those teenagers who are joining their programs, as the website added.

SDYS also shares in their success as musicians and future leaders in San Diego and the country.

The website stated that the organization has been serving for 75 years.

SDYS has contributed to the future of thousands of teenagers in San Diego, as revealed on the website.

Performing Worldwide

The same website revealed that since the organization's founding in 1945, its students had had the chance to perform worldwide.

They noted that it is a part of their large ensembles.

As further explained, students at SDYS had taken 13 international concert tours in 18 nations.

Moreover, SDYS emphasized that they would celebrate their partnership with the Rotary International Youth Exchange this year.

They highlighted that SDYS is the only Rotary-sponsored International Youth Symphony program in the country.
