The Atlanta First United Methodist Church in Georgia has invited the public to visit the Central Branch of the Fulton County Library System.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, May 12, the Atlanta First United Methodist Church announced that the public may visit the Fulton County Library System's Central Branch since their $50 million restorations were finished at the end of last year.

 Not only is the building beautiful and the book collection stimulating, but there is also an Asian Pacific American History Month exhibit in the main lobby this month, according to the church’s post.

Sacred Cinema Small Group Study

A sacred cinema small group study will be held at Atlanta First United Methodist Church in Georgia.

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church announced a series of sacred cinema small group discussions in a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 11.

Summer in Atlanta means Faith and Films during service at Atlanta First United Methodist Church, according to the church's Facebook page.

This year, the church is going a step further by hosting a Sacred Cinema Small Group Series.

During the months of June and July, the church will hold dialogues through clips about the spiritual significance of some of the most recent Oscar-nominated films via Zoom on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Small Group Survey for Movie Recommendations

The whole public was invited to participate in a small group poll for movie recommendations at Atlanta First United Methodist Church.

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church posted a sacred cinema small group poll on Facebook on Thursday, April 28, encouraging the public to vote.

Filling out the sacred cinema small group survey will take five minutes, according to the church's post, and will tell the church's Grow team which films they want to see through the lens of religion this summer in the city.

Church’s Book Group

The public is welcome to attend Atlanta First United Methodist Church's new Grow book group.

On Friday, April 22, the Atlanta First United Methodist Church announced on Facebook that a Grow book club via Zoom meeting would be held on the fourth Monday of each month.

Discussions about the spiritual meanings of certain well-known works will begin in May, according to the church's announcement.

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church will read Chibundu Onuzo's Sankofa during the first month.

Sankofa is a Ghanaian metaphor for a bird flying backward in search of new meaning and understanding, which is exactly what the main protagonist, Anna, does in this book, according to the church.

Despite a series of setbacks in her life, including divorce and her mother's death, she starts on a voyage of self-discovery by traveling back in time to better comprehend her current situation.

While searching for answers, she discovers that her father, whom she never met, is still alive and, according to the church, serves as the leader of a small African country.

The church stated that it will provide discussion starters as well as a link to the Zoom participant.
