Atlanta Westside Presbyterian Church has hosted classes on preparation for Christian marriage every Wednesday since March 1.
The church’s website noted that they started the course to help those who are engaged, soon-to-be engaged, or recently married to build a strong foundation for their relationships.
Marriage Preparation Class
The church stated that participants would learn first-hand wisdom and principles from their church leaders and spouses. They would discuss various subjects that help them prepare for their life journey.
According to the website, couples would learn the Biblical Vision of Marriage and the value of communication.
They would teach them to handle conflicts and better resolutions to their issues.
Moreover, during this course, couples would discover ways to handle their finances and the expectations of their partners or spouses. They said they would also teach marriage intimacy, as the website noted.
Community Groups, Counseling
In another section, Atlanta Westside Presbyterian Church explained that its community groups are its main avenue for creating relational connections and offering spiritual care to people.
As further mentioned, they nurture friendship through a gospel-focused conversation, prayer, and fellowship. They said that attendees and visitors are welcome to join their community groups.
The church pointed out its belief that Christian counseling is crucial for everyone. They allow three professional counselors to rent space in the church to support their community and operate their business, as stated on the website.
According to the website, the counselors could also help them contact other mental health professionals and services in Atlanta.
Depth of Marriage
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints emphasized that marriage is more than a civil agreement with legal merits. They explained that this marital union is vital to God’s plan.
The Scripture teaches God’s marriage expectations and offers practical relationship advice. They added that it is an eternal ideology where a man and woman would be loving, intimate, and selfless.
They said that love in marriage could be more intimate and selfless than in other relationships. They added that this kind of love is what Jesus wants of His followers, which is the virtue couples need the most.
