Intown Ministries' Food Pantry

According to the organization’s Facebook page, the Intown Collaborative Ministries are a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and reversing homelessness and hunger in Intown, Atlanta, Georgia.

Pantry distribution is held on Tuesdays and Saturdays starting 10 a.m., the ministries' said on its website.

Every person can get groceries twice a week, it added.

Anyone experiencing food poverty is welcome to visit the food pantry. The Intown Collaborative Ministries do not discriminate against people based on their age, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, housing situation, or religious beliefs. The members also do not ask for any paperwork, the ministries said.

Guests are provided on a first-come, first-served basis by the Intown Collaborative Ministries. They currently serve outside, it was stated on its website. They are asked to queue up with six feet between them and wash their hands before approaching the distribution table.

Members do not require identification cards. However, documentation such as a leasing agreement is desirable if there are several people in the household.

Adults who are not related or married and live in the same residence must register as individuals and pick up their meals, according to the Intown Collaborative Ministries.

The food pantry's current needs are shelf-stable milk, instant oatmeal or grits, granola bars, water bottles, fruit cups, tuna packets, canned soup, sandwiches, and gallon-sized ziplock bags, plastic grocery bags, and snack items, among others, according to the Intown Collaborative Ministries.

Food donations can be dropped off at McIver Hall beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The organizations also encouraged the donors to indicate if the total weight is required and the group with which it is affiliated at the time of drop-off.

Meanwhile, clothing donations are also not accepted by the charity. Those interested in donating clothes may drop them off at Mercy Church or Georgia Works, the same source said.

Homeless Outreach

According to the Intown Collaborative Ministries website, for those family members or neighbors who are experiencing homelessness in Atlanta, the first step in getting help is to complete a coordinated entry assessment.

The homeless outreach case managers complete these assessments when they meet the people under a bridge, in a park, behind a dumpster, or in the woods.

The onsite outreach office is open on Tuesdays starting at 9 a.m., the organizations said on the same website.

The office is located at the bottom left of the campus from the back entrance, it said.

Meanwhile, the offices and pantry are at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, 1026 Ponce de Leon Avenue, although its campus entrance is on St. Charles Avenue at the back of the property, it added. More information is available on their website.
