The First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, has installed its national register plaque to tribute the church's unique historical architecture.
In a Facebook post, the First Presbyterian Church said its national register plaque was installed last week.
The plaque's listing on the national register as a tribute to the church's unique historical architecture as well as its collection of extraordinary stained glass windows, the First Presbyterian Church wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
The First Presbyterian Church said the plaque is the culmination of years of work by several individuals, including the Archives and History Committee members and staff.
The Atlanta Presbyterian Church has also recognized specific individuals, including Bill Lyons, Moncure Crowder, Susan Daugherty, Cheryl Hughes, Rebekah LeMon, and Craig Anderson, for contributing their knowledge and time to the project.
According to its website, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta was included in the National Register of Historic Places on May 29, 2020.
'Heart of Atlanta'
The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta was established in 1848, according to the church's website.
The church is located on Peachtree and 16th Street, adjacent to the Woodruff Center for the Arts.
According to the First Presbyterian Church members, it is an urban church known for being a leader in worship, spiritual education, service, community relations, and the arts.
According to the church's website, many of the families that helped build the city were members of the FPC, and the church also celebrated some significant milestones.
The First Presbyterian Church said it continues to carry these traditions and looks forward to ushering in our 175th anniversary in 2023.
The church said it is the home to the most extended continually-running preschool in the southeast, founded 70 years ago.
It said among the many local missionary work of the church, the First Presbyterian Church has a 35-year tradition, serving 250 homeless guests with breakfast every Sunday, and providing safe housing and shelter for up to 12 women through the Women's Transformation Center campus.
The church also has the world's oldest continuous religious radio broadcast, broadcast on WSB radio since 1922. The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta was also the first church in Atlanta to promote its services on TV-the show continues to this day, the church stated on its website.

The church said its new calendar of events would include everything the church offers, from weekly Sunday services to concerts and small groups.
Meanwhile, the church members will also update the event description with information about attendance at the virtual event. Each event also has a category, such as "worship," "education," and "Sunday School," which will help us to promote different events on the website.
The First Presbyterian Church added that it also has a close relationship with the surrounding art world, including the High Museum of Art, Atlanta Design Museum, Union Theater, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Opera, etc. Through these partnerships, the church regularly organizes concerts and events.
