The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, Georgia, encouraged the public to attend a string orchestral performance.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 18, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta announced that it will hold a string awakening on June 18 at 7 p.m.

According to the church’s post, in honor of Juneteenth, an all-BIPOC orchestra will perform music influenced by the African diaspora.

The church said the Challenge the Stats is hosting the event as part of the Concerts at First Concert Series.

Church’s New Youth Chorus

A new youth chorus has been founded at Atlanta's First Presbyterian Church.

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta announced the formation of a new youth choir in a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 26.

No prior experience is required, according to the church, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Participation provided possibilities for performance and, as the choir grew, future choral tours, according to the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

Last Saturday, at 8 p.m., the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performed at the First Presbyterian Church.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra was directed by Jerry Hou and organized by Jens Korndörfer, performed Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony and Poulenc's Organ Concerto, according to the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

The First Presbyterian Church explained that this was a one-time occurrence.

The church said the First Concerts at First has organized the event.

James Bryan Smith’s Book Read

The public was allowed to read James Bryan Smith's book "The Good and Beautiful God" at Atlanta's First Presbyterian Church.

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta announced on Tuesday, May 3 that Join the Way will run until May 22.

According to the church, the Rev. Chris Holmes is studying James Bryan Smith's book "The Good and Beautiful God," with class themes including sleep, gratitude, margin, and slowing down.

String Quartet

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta presented another Bach's Lunch on Friday, May 13.

On Facebook on Thursday, April 28, the First Presbyterian Church announced another Bach's Lunch with the American String Quartet and ECMSA Artistic Director William Ransom.

The American String Quartet performed one of Bach's most striking chamber compositions with ECMSA Artistic Director William Ransom, according to the cathedral.

Special Men’s Prayer Breakfast

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta hosted a special men's prayer breakfast on Friday, May 20.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, May 10, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta advertised a special men's prayer brunch.

According to the church, former Georgia State University head football coach and ESPN analyst Coach Bill Curry will speak.
