Neighborhood Church in Atlanta sponsors group for racial healing, peace building discussion

The Neighborhood Church in Atlanta, Georgia said it is sponsoring a group for racial healing and peacebuilding discussion.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Jan. 18, the Neighborhood Church announced that it is sponsoring a group hosted by Compassionate Atlanta: Racial Healing and Peacebuilding Discussion.

According to the post, they will be working through the Racial Healing Handbook together.

The church said everyone is welcome for the event.

The Neighborhood Church said the event will be held on Zoom, adding that everyone can join wherever they are.

The event will be held in the following schedules: from Jan. 31 to April 11 from Mondays 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (EST), the first session is 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., while no session on April 4.

According to the church, it is free except for buying the book at around $25.

However, if that is a barrier to their participation, the Neighborhood Church said it would love to give them a book.

Free Pantry

The Neighborhood Church asked the community to donate shelf-stable pantry items in order to keep the free pantry that had been set up in front of the church-going.

The church requested the public to donate shelf-stable pantry items at any time to aid families in need in a Facebook post on Thursday, Jan. 13.

They can even place board games on the shelf to share with the public, according to the article.

It was a great way for the community to get together and collaborate, according to the church.

According to the Neighborhood Church, the free pantry was constructed by one of its partner Girl Scout Troops, and several neighbors have offered to assist, keep an eye on it and keep it full.

Fitness Class

The Neighborhood Church has announced a $10 beginner workout class on Wednesday at 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. hosted by one of its neighbors, according to the church's Facebook post.

The event was described as a "fusion fitness experience suitable to all fitness levels," according to the post.

According to the church, members may improve their bodies, burn calories, and increase their energy and flexibility in only one vigorous session.

Christine of Steller Fitness, according to the church, led the class.

The Neighborhood Church, on the other hand, stated that class sizes were limited to eight persons and that a full coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine was required.

Church’s Epiphany Celebration

The Neighborhood Church held an online Epiphany celebration despite the escalating incidence of COVID-19 infections in the area.

On Saturday, Jan. 1, the Neighborhood Church announced on Facebook that its Epiphany service would be live-streamed on Sunday at 11 a.m.

According to the post, members Andy and Anjie delivered a message about the significance of the day.

On McLendon Ave., the church claimed to have a pop-up tent. From 12 p.m., individuals can pick up a star word by driving or stepping in. until 1:00 p.m.

According to the Neighborhood Church, anyone who won't be able to pick up the star word in person can contact Anjie or Andy to have it emailed to them.
