The North Decatur United Methodist Church announced that it would celebrate its annual "Trunk or Treat" on Sunday, Oct. 24.
According to the church's website, the North Decatur United Methodist Church said its traditional festivity is back on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The celebration will be held in front of the church's parking lot, the website stated.
The North Decatur United Methodist Church invited participants to sign up to hand out candy from their decorated car trunks.
The children participants were also encouraged to bring their own creative and fun costumes, it added.
However, the church noted that participants should wear masks to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Church's Worship Service
According to the North Decatur United Methodist Church, the church's worship options and timings have altered regularly due to changing COVID-19 and vaccination rates in 2020 and 2021.
Beginning in the fall of 2021, the church will provide both online and in-person worship choices.
The website claimed that everyone is welcome to worship in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Members and participants of the North Decatur church listen to beautiful music and pray for the community and the world.
The website shared that they can also hear a thought-provoking sermon before concluding with communion and singing outside.
Health Protocols
The North Decatur United Methodist Church is a COVID-aware congregation. Masks are essential for the safety of the personnel and others, according to the church's website.
Attendees were also required to sign in when they arrived. According to the statement, they no longer pass an offering plate or share hymnals, and they do not sing inside.
The sanctuary is cleansed a few hours before worship begins, the church stated.
The North Decatur said it wants everyone to feel secure at the church while preserving a worshipful and meditative atmosphere.
Since the beginning of virtual worship in March 2020, the church has emphasized the importance of having a great online community. It also stated that it intends to keep online worship available in the future.
The church invited others interested in joining on its Facebook page, YouTube channel, and the homepage at ndumc.org every Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

Signed Petition
A petition has been signed by clergy and members of the North Decatur Presbyterian Church to have the "genocide cannon" removed from Decatur Square.
According to its Facebook post, the North Decatur Presbyterian Church stated the cannon was erected on the square in 1906 by the Daughters of the Confederacy.
During a period of white nationalist violence in Atlanta, the Confederate memorial obelisk was removed two summers ago. The same pro-Confederate organization installed the said obelisk.
The removal of the canon was put to vote on Oct. 12.
The church noted a Muscogee elder who talked about the negative impact on people of the said cannon. The said elder made the comment during the celebration of Indigenous Peoples' Day on Monday, Oct. 11, according to the North Decatur Presbyterian Church.
