Northside Drive Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, will host its annual Valentine luncheon for its retired members on Feb. 14, 2023.

The church aims to treat its retired members to a luncheon with surprise entertainment and love from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., per its announcements page.

Northside Drive Baptist Church will also have a Christmas Eve family vesper service on Saturday, Dec. 24, from 4 to 4:45 p.m. for additional members and residents in Atlanta, the events page bared.

An Advent wreath burning, retelling of the Christmas story, worship service with traditional carols, and Holy Communion are all part of the occasion, the post reads.

The service, designed for kids, will continue for about 30 minutes. The public is invited to join Northside Drive Baptist Church as it begins its season's celebration, the website said.

A second service will take place between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. with the same tasks. There will be a reading of the nine biblical lessons from the King's College, Cambridge, Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, the sire revealed.

Seasonal favorites will be performed by the Sanctuary Choir and staff vocalists Katherine Kosowski and Shanta Johnson, and the congregation will sing well-known carols, per the page.

During the service, the church will also celebrate Holy Communion. Members will sing Silent Nights at the conclusion as they light the candles, according to the announcements page.

According to the church's vision, God has given them the responsibility of discerning and carrying out His will.

They include Rev. Dr. Larry McSwain, Dr. Karen Massey, and Dr. Jim Mahaffey. 

Rev. Dr. Larry McSwain

Dr. Larry McSwain, a McAfee School of Theology faculty member and NDBC member,  is now retired from pastoral work. He is married to Sue and his writings include Conflict Ministry in the Church and Loving Beyond Your Theology: The Life and Ministry of Jimmy Raymond Allen, the website reads.

Rev. Dr. Karen Massey

Dr. Karen Massey holds the Watkins Christian Foundation Chair at the McAfee School of Theology and serves as the Associate Dean for Masters' Degree Programs and an Associate Professor of Christian Education and Faith Development, a page dedicated to the authors’ biography said.

She has also been an NDBC member for a very long time and served as an Associate Pastor of the church. The And Your Daughters Shall Prophesy: Sermons by Women in Baptist Life is edited by her, the site bared.

Dr. Jim Mahaffey

Dr. James Mahaffey's new book, "Atomic Adventures: Secret Islands, Forgotten N-Rays, and Isotopic Murder: A Journey into the Wild World of Nuclear Science," was recently the subject of an interview with Associate Pastor Daniel Headrick, per the website.

Mahaffey is a member of NDBC and has a bachelor's degree in science in physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and master's and doctoral degrees in nuclear engineering, the page reads.
