The Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, has called for volunteers to help in the blood donation drive on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 28, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church has invited the interested volunteers to join in the church’s next blood donation drive on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The shifting hours will be no longer than two hours, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church wrote on its Facebook post.

According to the church, the volunteers will welcome donors as they arrive and ensure that they are registered for the blood donation drive.

Meanwhile, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church said the volunteers would also be assigned to re-supply the snack tables and wipe areas down between donors.

The church said two volunteers are needed at a time throughout the blood donation drive.

The presbyterian church also advised that the blood donation drive be held at the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church’s Fellowship Hall.

COVID-19 Health Protocols

Those who will attend the Sunday worship will be obliged to wear facemasks, regardless of the vaccination status, according to the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church’s coronavirus disease (COVID-19) guidelines.

The Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church stated that while it expressed confidence in the COVID-19 vaccination, the church does not want to take any chances and risks, especially since the vaccine is unavailable to the youngest members.

Meanwhile, the church said the speakers in the chapel would take off their masks while speaking if they were more than six feet from the next row of people.

The Presbyterian church underscored that any gathering in the chapel that exceeds 50 individuals and compromises social distancing would be transferred to the sanctuary.

Church’s Worship Service

According to the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church, those who attend the worship service will find deep hospitality, opportunities for growth, a call to serve, and a sense of belonging.

The church said its Sunday worship would be live-streamed at 11 a.m. on its Facebook page at facebook.com/opcbrookhaven.

The public is also welcome to attend the church, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church said.

However, those who have a temperature higher than 98.6 or have any other symptoms related to COVID-19 such as cough, shortness of breath, runny rose, fever, loss of smell or taste, and diarrhea will be advised to stay at their homes, the church recounted.

The church said all usage of the areas must be coordinated ahead of time with the church office at office@opcbrookhave.org.

Social distancing must be observed at all times with more than six feet distance from each other and refrain from physical contact, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church said.

Meanwhile, the church advised the public to sanitize any areas touched, including indoor bathrooms, before leaving using the supplies provided by the church.

The Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church staff will continue to be encouraged to work from home. However, they will be allowed to return to the office as need, the church added.
