The church's website stated that his message is for the wounded, the guilty, the lonely, and the discouraged: God loves you; let him.

According to the website, Lucado noted that for integrating poetic storytelling and homey comedy with a preacher's heart in his writing.

The Peachtree Presbyterian Church said all of his trade books began as a sermon series at Oak Hills Church, and each one of his sermons begins with his asking himself, "What can I say on Sunday that will still matter on Monday?"

The church said Lucado had been called "America's Pastor" by Christianity Today and "The Best Preacher in America" by Reader's Digest.

According to the website, his books have sold more than 120 million copies in 54 languages worldwide and regularly appear on bestseller lists, including The New York Times.

The Peachtree Presbyterian Church said Lucado graduated from Abilene Christian University with two degrees and a passion for helping others learn about Jesus.

He began his ministry as an associate pastor at a modest Miami church, according to the website.

The church said after that, he and his wife Denalyn spent several years in Rio de Janeiro helping to develop churches before starting his ministry at Oak Hills Church.

It added that they have three grown daughters, two sons-in-law, and two grandkids in their family.

Church's Mission

The only way for His disciples to make a difference in a society that urgently needs love, hope, and joy, according to the Peachtree Presbyterian Church's website, is for them to establish an active, daily connection with Jesus Christ.

The church members argued that through growing in knowledge and comprehension of their faith and demonstrating the genuineness of their beliefs in service to one other and the world, they became partners with God in His vast restoration work.

People must join Christ in the restoration of all things every day, according to the Peachtree Presbyterian.

The church also stated that God's love causes individuals to put aside their differences.

People experienced the fullness of God, according to the church, when they stepped out of their comfort zones, took risks, and challenged themselves to know and value one another.

God's love is warm and firm at the same time, welcoming and confronting.

According to the church, people attempt to balance these two facets of God's love at all times, being reminded that they are entirely and finally loved while also being encouraged to grow more like Jesus daily.
