Atlanta Pride
According to the organization's website, the Atlanta Pride Committee has successfully unveiled the mural following the appropriate health protocols amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The organization said the event was successful in cooperation with the Consulate General of Canada and Dad’s Garage Theatre.
According to the Atlanta Pride Committee, after several calls for artist submissions, a wide range of exceptional responses were received.
The organization assembled an independent jury of committee leaders who Avery Harden selected as the artist with the winning design.
The mural is the perfect expression of this partnership, providing an opportunity to reaffirm a principle to which Canada is deeply committed and aligned with the work and values of the Atlanta Pride Committee, it stated on its website.
The committee emphasized that no one should be subjected to discrimination or violence because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or sex characteristics.
According to the Atlanta Pride Committee, the consulate approached the Dad’s Garage Theatre for an enthusiastic collaboration for this project.
The event was held outdoors at Dad’s Garage, located at 569 Ezzard in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday, Sept. 19.
Bisexuality+ Visibility Day
The Saint Mark United Methodist Church has also celebrated the Bisexulity+ Visibility Day to recognize bisexual, pansexual, fluid, and queer communities on Thursday, Sept. 23.
The Methodist church wrote in a Facebook post that the Bisexual Week is an excellent opportunity to recognize and raise awareness of bisexual, pansexual, fluid, and queer members.
It underscored that in both straight and gay communities, the bisexual+ community is frequently overlooked.
Bisexual people make up 40 percent of the LGBTQ+ population, according to the Saint Mark United Methodist Church.
However, the church added that it is less than half as likely as gay and lesbian people to come out to their loved ones.
The Saint Mark Methodist Church told the bisexual+ people that they are seen, valued, and loved in the church.
The Methodist Church added that it also assured the bisexual+ people that they are always welcome as an essential part of the church.
