Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia invited the children to attend the weekly Bible learning and singing.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Sept. 16, the church said the event takes place every Wednesday from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m.

Music, Youth Programs

According to the Shallowford Presbyterian Church's website, some of Atlanta's finest music and youth programs are hosted in the church.

It worshiped a good and loving God, which bestowed grace in the form of Jesus Christ and created humans.

Its worship serves as a frequent reminder to the populace that God's majesty and mysticism are beyond human comprehension and is a joyful and obedient response to God's love, according to the church.

The church described itself as a robust, energetic, and hospitable church with a long history of offering top-notch pastoral care, missionary work, and educational missions.

Humble Beginnings

The church said it has expanded from these humble beginnings, citing that it held its Sunday services at Oak Grove Elementary School for the first three years.

A schedule for the construction of the chapel, the school facility, and the main sanctuary was approved in 1959, according to the church.

Shallowford Presbyterian Church said the Education Building was dedicated four years after the Carmichael Chapel, which was finished in August 1961.

Within a year, the Shallowford Kindergarten and Preschool as well as the developing Christian Education ministry were housed in the Education Building, the church said.

The church said the centerpiece of the original design, the Sanctuary building, was completed in May 1976.

It also stated the Education Building was enlarged and renovated in 1998 as a result of a capital campaign, adding the Great Hall, Heritage Hall, and the Atrium.

Throughout its history, Shallowford has been fortunate to have great pastoral leadership. After more than 10 years of service, Rev. Nesbit retired from Shallowford in 1970, according to the church.

He was replaced, according to the Shallowford Presbyterian Church, by Rev. Dr. Thomas L. Are, who devotedly served Shallowford for more than 20 years before departing in 1992. According to the church, Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. C. Gray Norsworthy served in that capacity from 1994 to September 2008.

According to the church, Shallowford accepted Rev. Christopher A. Henry as its fourth Senior Pastor in January 2011 in response to God's call. In May 2018, Rev. Henry retired from ministry after more than seven years.
