The Trinity Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, has called for donations to stock for ministries food drive on Sunday, Oct. 3.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 28, the Trinity Presbyterian Church has asked for donations for Intown Collaborative Ministries' food drive.
According to the church, it is stocking the food pantry in the Intown Collaborative Ministries.
The Intown Collaborative Ministries have been assisting the people in the community who are experiencing food insecurity, the Trinity Presbyterian Church wrote on its Facebook post.
The groceries are distributed to the families and individuals twice a week.
The church asked for oatmeal packets, instant grits, apple sauce, granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, tuna packets, cans of soup, macaroni, cheese, and shelf-stable milk.
They also advised those interested donors to check expiration dates as the Intown Collaborative Ministries will not accept items that are already expired.
The Intown Collaborative Ministries became part of the Trinity Presbyterian Church's 2020 Hunger Relief Fund.
The church also expressed gratitude for those kind donors. Interested donors may drop off food donations at the Trinity Presbyterian Church until Sunday, Oct. 3.
Intown Collaborative Ministries Food Pantry
According to the organization's Facebook page, the Intown Collaborative Ministries are a nonprofit organization dedicated to prevent and reverse homelessness and hunger in Intown, Atlanta, Georgia.
The church's website stated that the pantry distribution is held on Tuesdays and Saturdays starting at 10 a.m.
The Intown Collaborative Ministries said it does not discriminate against people based on their age, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, housing situation, or religious beliefs.
The members also do not ask for any paperwork, the Intown Collaborative Ministries underscored.
The Intown ministries emphasized that anyone experiencing food poverty is welcome to visit the food pantry.
Housing Instability and Homelessness
According to the Intown Collaborative Ministries' website, housing instability and homelessness, are issues for thousands of Atlanta families.
Last January 2019, the Atlanta city reported at least 3,217 men, women, or children as homeless at the annual Point in Time Count – of this number, 719 were unsheltered, the ministries stated.
The ministries said the members of this community are particularly vulnerable and often have serious mental health, substance abuse, and other medical conditions, among others.
Intown's Homeless Outreach Program, which is stated on its website, specializes in compassionately engaging and housing the City of Atlanta's chronically homeless neighbors.

According to the Intown Collaborative Ministries ' website, outreach teams can get to know individuals and families experiencing homelessness by referral or in the streets.
The outreach workers will assess the clients' needs and barriers to housing, the ministries stated.
The Intown Ministries said that clients are entered into the Atlanta citywide housing queue.
Meanwhile, the outreach workers begin case management in helping clients address barriers to housing, it said.
It added that they assist with obtaining identification documents, benefits, medical care, mental health services, and rehabilitation.
When the housing becomes available, they will help the clients determine if the home is the right fit for them, the Intown Collaborative Ministries stated.
The workers will conduct transition case management to housing support services, it added.
