A man from Thornton, Colorado, a few miles away from Denver, recently shared his story of miraculous COVID-19 survival in 2021. His son believed that God was there when his father suddenly woke up after months of comatose.
Severe Case of COVID-19
A severe case of COVID-19 made the family of Jaime Gonzales-Tolentino, a Thornton man, test their faith in the Lord. As reported via The Denver Channel, Jaime was first admitted to the hospital on Feb. 8 of last year.
His doctors confirmed that the patient had acquired COVID-19. Due to his age and comorbidities such as Pneumonia and stroke, Jaime was only given by his doctors one percent chance of survival.
As he stayed inside the hospital room, Jaime was also in a comatose state, and doctors had to intubate him. His oldest son named Jesus, was the one who handled talking to doctors about his father's state.
In his interview, Jesus said that it was hard for him to accept the facts that his father could die, especially since he is the oldest son. He explained that he was also worried about how his younger siblings would take the news of their dying father.
Jesus admitted that his family has been "people of faith." Due to this, Jaime's family did not lose hope of praying for his condition to get better.
His oldest son also researched and found out that his father may survive through a rare steroid treatment. Jesus then suggested the option to the hospital, but only one doctor accepted the suggestion to start the treatment.
In his statement, Jesus said that the female doctor knew that they are Godly people and that God was there when his father was in the hospital. Unfortunately, months passed, but no changes were recorded to his father's state.
His Father Woke Up in Coma
Finally, on Easter Sunday of Apr. 4, 2021, a miraculous event happened to the family. Jaime, the once-in-a-coma patient, suddenly woke up from his bed.
On the same day, Jaime's youngest son also celebrated his birthday. The father shared his experience of waking up for the first time after his months of coma.
He said that his family members were there for him when he woke up. He can reportedly see their excitement as they recognize that he is alive.
On May 20, 2021, Jaime was officially discharged from the hospital after exactly 100 days of hospitalization. Since his interview, the father said that he was able to resume his normal life but had to use an oxygen pack for his lungs.
So far, he said that his condition has been getting better. Instead of warning other people, Jaime continues to share his story with other people and tell them that life is beautiful and they must enjoy every part of it.
