Hillside Community Church is set to host training for anyone who wants to minister and serve those in the first responder community.

First Responder Chaplain/Peer Support Training

According to an Eventbrite post, the training is scheduled for Thursday, Jun. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. MDT.

It will take place at Hillside Community Church, 103 North Ford Street, Golden, CO.

The participants will learn how to efficiently serve the nation's first responders in fire, EMS, military, and police.

It is reportedly possible to minister to those soldiers through chaplains, church leaders, volunteers working for non-profit organizations, counselors, hospice workers, and anyone with a heart for first responders.

Chaplains perform an essential function for the nation's heroes. They assist those professionals and offer solace to persons who have been uprooted due to a natural disaster or have been the victims of a crime.

However, participants can be someone other than a chaplain or peer supporter to participate in the training.

Throughout the Level 2 course, each student will receive the practical advice, tools, and approaches necessary to minister to our heroes and assist them.

The following will be the topics for the training: compassion fatigue treatment, communication principles, defusing trauma immediately after an encounter, do's and don'ts of emotional response, effective techniques to bring healing from suffering, first responder relationship building blocks, leading practices for debriefing after the scene, proper steps to dealing with guilt, supporting the first responder's family, and treating and managing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Following the completion of the session, attendees will be given a certificate of completion. However, the course does not qualify someone to serve as a chaplain.

In addition, the training is organized by the Serving Heroes. It honors the nation's defenders, veterans, first responders, and those in need, as well as their families, as one of how they serve their country.

They achieve their goal by developing and sponsoring distinctive programs to entertain, educate, inspire, consolidate, and construct communities.
