JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting the Controller in financial-related tasks, managing the accounting staff and the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization including Assets, Liabilities, Reporting and Budgeting. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding and application of GAAP accounting principles and processes. This position also has financial oversight of the Lakewood Church Bookstore.

This position reports to The Controller.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

Direct oversight and management of the accounting staff (approx. 4 direct reports)
Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of monthly financial statements presented to management
Ensure accurate reporting of weekly, monthly, and annual cash flow
Review monthly, for accuracy, the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements for the Church and related organizations
Identify organizational trends and perform analytics on growth trends, debt ratio, budget variances and other key performance indicators
Oversee the preparation of supporting schedules and other custom reports as needed by department managers
Ensure ongoing training and development of new and existing accounting staff
Monitor and periodically audit processes and controls for proper cash management for all sales centers
Assist in the annual preparation of fiscal budget including the operating and capital budgets for Lakewood Church and related organizations
Analyze and review data to compile final annual budgets to present to Management
Monitor budget for performance to actual monthly spend and work with department heads to optimize spending
Oversee the writing, reviewing, and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and business processes
Assist with planning and overseeing the annual audits of Lakewood Church and related organizations
Assist with the design, implementation and periodic review of internal control over accounting transactions
Act as management oversight for the bookstore team, inclusive of staffing, guest artist sales and inventory
Other duties as assigned

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is a must (vlookups/pivot tables) required

Accounting/GAAP knowledge

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations a plus

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major required
Experience with Not-For-Profit Accounting preferred
3+ years of experience in financial management
5+ years in progressive accounting roles preferred
