Reports to: Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Academics

Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Athletic Compliance assists with providesation to coaches, students, and University staff on NCAA rules.

Job Responsibilities:
Serves as a representative of a distinctively Christian University displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the HBU community and with the public.
Proactively monitors and educates athletic department and University personnel to ensure compliance with NCAA rules.
Analyzes and evaluates prospective student-athlete initial eligibility and transfer eligibility.
Conversant with NCAA platforms such as the Eligibility Center, Compliance Assistant, and LSDBi portals, in addition to Banner, Slate, and recruiting monitoring services for record-keeping and monitoring.
Understands continuing eligibility issues to identify potential APR issues and provide solutions proactively.
Assists in providing rules interpretations, checking playing and practice seasons, and monitoring athletics personnel.
Strong knowledge and understanding of NCAA and Southland Conference rules, processes, and sports.
Strong writing and oral communication skills, capable of interacting thoughtfully and considerately with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, peers at other institutions, the NCAA, prospective student-athletes, and their families.
Served as an athletic department for FrontRush compliance software.
Regularly interacts with departmental, University, Southland Conference, and NCAA constituents.
Assists the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Academics, Director of Academics, and Athletic Director with projects as needed.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred in an area related to the position (i.e., sports management, law, business, education).
Proficient in Word and Excel.
Ability to communicate with various constituencies in person, phone, and email.
Ability to follow all NCAA and conference rules.
Must be able to travel as necessary.
Must be able to work 40+ hours per week as the schedule demands.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for long periods at a desk.
Ability to lift to 10lbs regularly, occasionally up to 25lbs.
