Summary / Objective

First and foremost, the Associate Director of High School Ministry will seek to walk with God and cultivate a healthy personal/family life (these are most important and everything else is subordinate to these). Vocationally, the Associate Director of High School Ministry will seek to effectively represent Grace Fellowship and support all high school youth ministry functions of the church. This position reports to the Lead Director of HS Ministry.

 

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This role is a 40-hour per week full time / exempt position. You are encouraged to develop a working schedule that maximizes both time with your family and productive time accomplishing the job. It is assumed that you will work a minimum of 40 hours per week and ministry on Sunday's counts as working hours.

 

Qualifications/Experience/Education

A strong and mature faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, thriving prayer life, God-honoring lifestyle, and passion for the Word of God help fuel a passion and desire to lead students to God's heart and launch them with God's heart into the world. Also essential to thriving and succeeding in student ministry at Grace Fellowship are the following skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
  • 2 years' experience in student ministry or related position.
  • Skilled in recruiting volunteers and developing people to serve Christ.
  • Demonstrates leadership capabilities with a detail for execution.
  • Team player with the ability to partner with and develop relationships with others.
  • Thorough and detail-oriented with strong initiative; judgement, wisdom and decision-making.
  • A teachable and collaborative spirit, with commitment to excellence.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Moderate-Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and an ability to learn new programs and understand basic project management software.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Executing skills/attention to detail (40% of role)

  • Under the direction of the Lead Director of High School Ministry, carry out the details of retreats, outreach events/trips, newcomer “Front Door Events” and an annual mission trip with excellence from start to finish.
  • Work alongside the Lead Director of High School Ministry to bridge transitions between junior high and high school.

 

Relationship (40% of role)

  • Be regularly involved in the mentoring and spiritual direction of High Schoolers, particularly girls, through personally journeying with Jesus and inviting high school girls to take their next step with Him. Invite “every girl in the room” to turn toward a biblically-based lifestyle through modeling, teaching, and relationship.
  • Take point on “care calls” serving high school girls and their families. This might include hospital visits, getting new students involved, referring parents to recommended counselors, etc.
  • Actively participate in developing student disciples through small groups, hang outs, mentoring, retreats, and mission trips.
  • Invest relationally and spiritually in female core volunteers and summer interns.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly student staff meetings, quarterly all church staff meetings, and semi-annual church leadership meetings.

 

Teaching (20% of role)

  • Lead through teaching and facilitating conversation in small group venues as well as training volunteers to do the same.
  • Work alongside the Lead Director of High School Ministry in creating/choosing Biblical teaching series that are relevant to high school students.
  • Occasionally teach, lead games, and/or give announcements at High School Sunday Night in front of approximately 100 students.

In this role, successful ministry to high school students includes:

  • Development of a culture that invites students into biblical manhood through journeying with Jesus together,
  • Kingdom impact through trips, events, and small groups,
  • Develop a growing number of students and leaders involved in discipleship,
  • Fostering a wide student appeal
  • Continue Grace Fellowship's reputation in the community for loving and investing in the lives of high school students.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

The position operates in the Student Ministry. This role routinely will require off campus travel. There may be events that require physical exertion.
