We are looking for an exemplary pastor to oversee our church’s Christian Education (C.E.), Youth, and Young Adults (Y&YA) ministry areas. The pastor will set goals for each ministry area under his leadership to fulfill the ministry’s designed purpose. He will ensure members of different ages and from diverse backgrounds are served effectively.

To achieve success, he will perform a wide range of duties that reflects his spiritual condition and beliefs. Ideal applicants are capable leaders, spiritually mature, and organized.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor regarding ministry leadership for the Christian Education Ministry and Youth & Young Adults Ministry.
  • Lead, oversee work, and regularly meet with ministry areas.
  • Create an annual budget for ministry areas.
  • Coordinate education and special programs with the C.E. ministry team.
  • Acquire and adapt curriculum materials
  • Recruit, train, and support teachers
  • Acquire and organize necessary study supplies
  • Coordinate and recruit assistants to help develop children and youth group activities and programs.
  • Recruit, resource, and support the Sunday School Classes and Vacation Bible School (VBS) program.
  • Encourage the introduction to and assimilation of young adults into the congregational life as active participants of the BWFBC family (including assimilation, baptism, discipleship, membership, ministry involvement, leadership development, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain Bible-based ministries that seek to address the spiritual needs of non-Christians, as well as deeply committed followers of Christ.
  • Develop and maintain a plan to effectively reach out to college students and young adults in the greater Houston area who do not have a current affiliation with another church.
  • Build spiritually based relationships with young adults for spiritual growth and outreach.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and encourage adult volunteers to serve in various areas of the young adult ministry.
  • Develop and maintain competence in current college/young adult culture trends, needs, and program strategies to effectively connect the culture with the unchanging Gospel.
  • Submit an annual strategic plan of proposed ministries and budgetary requirements to the Administration. Additionally, accept financial oversight and responsibility for all C.E. and Y&YA resources, activities, programs, retreats, and mission trips.
  • Provide oversight and direction in developing new ministry opportunities for our ministry areas and in the community.
  • Guide in the formulation and development of ministry area program statements including:
    • Purpose – rationale for plans as they relate to the church’s mission
    • S.M.A.R.T. Goals
    • Objectives
  • Update Communications Ministry (video news clips, newsletter, website, social media, and any other means to communicate the activities of the ministries).
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Senior Pastor or Executive Pastor.

 

Requirements:

  • Evident relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Spiritually mature.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills as outlined in the Bible.
  • Agreement with the Doctrinal Statement of BWFBC.
  • Support the Constitution and Bylaws of BWFBC, evidenced commitment to the church’s stated mission.
  • A Master of Divinity with an emphasis on Christian Education is preferred.
  • At least 5+ years relevant ministry experience.
  • Ability to teach, preach, and effectively communicate God’s Word.
  • Experience in recruiting, developing, training, and directing ministry teams.
  • Able to oversee and manage budgets.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications and social media.
  • Outstanding teaching, discipleship, administrative, relational, and servant-leadership skills.
  • Should have the competency to assist in nurturing the life of the church; must have a passion for Christian Education and possess characteristics and qualities necessary for working harmoniously, effectively, and confidentially with church members, pastors, and other church staff.
  • A proponent of team building and a dedicated team player who can break down silos in ministry and lead ministry leaders toward our shared mission, objectives, and goals.
