Community Liaison - Relief & Outreach

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Relief and Outreach Community Liaison serves as a conduit between Lakewood Church’s Relief and Outreach Department and our partners in the Gulf Coast Region. This includes active and meaningful engagement with partners to maintain existing relationships, as well as identifying and proactively seeking out approved new partners and expansion of our Relief program. The role also serves to help coordinate and facilitate Relief volunteer engagement opportunities at our warehouse, as well as onsite and offsite events with partners.

This position reports to the Relief and Outreach Director

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Maintains consistent and meaningful contact with our community network to help foster better relationships and identify opportunities to assist across the Gulf Coast
Maintains continuity of the departments work operations by identifying, monitoring and communicating needed actions to the department director
Works collaboratively with the Relief team to ensure continuity of communication across channels both external and internal to provide consistent and meaningful assistance to those in need and opportunities for engagement of staff and volunteers
Maintains active and up to date knowledge of our existing warehouse inventory of supplies and proactively seeks out partners to help place supplies appropriately
Works closely with partners and internal resources to understand and help adapt to evolving needs
Acts as a liaison and resource to all community partners who need assistance with receiving or distributing supplies or goods from the relief warehouse, including answering questions, assisting with coordination and helping determine which supplies are most appropriate for partner organizations
Plans and coordinates ongoing relief and outreach events and helps lead and oversee volunteers for relief and outreach activities
Collaborates with staff, volunteers and Life Groups to provide support to our Relief warehouse and to have successful onsite and offsite relief and outreach events
Works with the Relief warehouse team to ensure all safety protocols and processes are satisfied for all volunteer opportunities both onsite and offsite
Collaborates with the Volunteer Screening Department to ensure volunteer recruitment protocols are followed
Drafts, edits and prepares correspondence, reports and other material using spreadsheets and/or databases.
Create and manage project timelines and provide status updates on projects
Assists with our annual M3 Conference
Assist with oversight and management of Departmental budget and expenses
Actively collaborates internally as needed to perform job duties successfully
Other relevant duties as assigned

  • Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church, and
  • Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church.

Ability to learn new systems, software and processes

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Degree in a communication related field or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience in communication and coordination related field required
Prior experience in Ministry and/or Relief and Outreach related field preferred
