Position Description:

The Director of Children’s Discipleship Ministry will be responsible for developing, leading, implementing and overseeing weekly programs, primarily on Sunday’s, for children from Pre-K through 5th grade at Cypress Methodist church. These programs should share God’s love with the children of our church and the surrounding community as well as partner with parents to help children grow into healthy followers of Jesus. This part-time position (20 Hrs.) has the potential to work into a full-time position.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a curriculum plan for Pre-K through fifth graders that is engaging, Biblical, and age appropriate. Currently using Orange curriculum in conjunction with small and large group gatherings on Sunday mornings.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and encourage adult leaders in all aspects of Children’s ministry, including planning and teaching lessons as well as mentoring and modeling their faith.
  • Utilize Wednesday helpers for any prep work needed.
  • Provide tools to parents that they need for spiritual leadership for their families.
  • Serve as a primary voice and advocate for the needs of children at Cypress MC.
  • Work closely with the Director of Children’s Special Events and Community Outreach in collaborating events and welcoming all into the life of the Cypress MC.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Ministries to create a smooth transition from Children’s Ministries to Student Ministries.
  • Assure safe sanctuary policies and procedures are in place to keep all children and the adults who work with them are safe; including such things as: background checks, having at least two adults per group, CPR and first-aid training.
  • Participate in annual budget process. Manage this budget with integrity and efficiency.
  • Attend staff meetings and other training and team building opportunities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

  • Prefer previous Christian Education experience and understanding of the life of a church.
  • Must successfully complete a background check prior to employment.
