Primary Purpose: The Trauma Clinician provides critical mental health services such as therapy, psychoeducational support groups and other clinical services to CMPP referrals, primarily asylum seekers. The Trauma Clinician ensures provision of trauma-responsive, strengths-based services that support the safety, dignity, stabilization and access to resources for asylum seekers and their families.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides clinical oversight of asylum and mixed migration cases which require mental health intervention, crisis intervention, critical linkage to housing support, cultural orientation and interdisciplinary coordination on complex situations.
  • Ensures compliance with Policy and Procedure in accordance with Cooperative Agreement for CMPP
  • Establish clinical protocols for DV and SI
  • Elevates the visibility of the CMPP program within the office and local community to increase access to supportive services for asylum seekers
  • Conducts outreach and education among local service providers and systems to improve awareness and understanding of mental health challenges facing asylum seekers and mixed migration clients
  • Provides mental health assessment and intake to engage CMPP referrals in mental health services
  • Provides trauma-responsive services to include therapy, psychoeducational support groups and other forms of clinical support to CMPP identified referrals
  • Delivers therapeutically-informed training on themes centered around trauma-sensitive, identity-informed and values-based collective healing practices to service providers
  • Provides psychoeducation-based support groups for CMPP identified referrals on a variety of topics, including cultural orientation, trauma survivor and accessing resources
  • Conduct intakes, psychosocial assessments, and trauma inventory; determine acuity, strengths, and therapy needs.
  • Submits clinical documentation, i.e., case notes, client assessments, service/treatment plans, and other forms/records as required in a timely manner. Maintain detailed case files and other documentation.
  • Provides practicum supervision for trauma-specialist, master’s level social work students
  • Recruit, onboard and maintain field contracts
  • In partnership with Associate Director, identifies advanced and specialized trauma training to support staff and interns working with CMPP referrals
  • Collaborates with community partners to support the mental health and wellness of CMPP referrals
  • Develops family-centered and culturally appropriate and responsive treatment plans and provide outpatient services including: individual counseling, family counseling, group counseling, and training using evidence-based and trauma-informed practices.
  • Works cooperatively with members of a larger treatment or service coordination team, either internally within the agency or externally in the larger community
  • Participates in coalition meetings and activities with the national HSPRS team

Other:

  • Serve as a mandated reporter and ensure reporting of suspected abuse or neglect by all staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of post-graduate direct service experience.
  • Previous work experience with foreign asylum seekers and/or foreign-born populations is required.
  • Must be licensed or in the process of obtaining a clinical license credential.
  • Prior experience networking and building relationships across organizations or programs is required.
  • Extensive experience working with people who have experienced trauma is preferred.

  • Organized and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science in which clinical experience is a program requirement. Or a bachelor’s degree with at least six years of direct service employment experience in the behavioral sciences.
